Thanks! Are you using that with NT yourself?

Actually I use NT8, but when I was using NT7, yes and was a very useful app.

Is anyone else having problems with the NT8 DOM? Mine has been locking up for several weeks on the ES, only. NT "Support" says I'm the only one in the World.

I recently did a clean Windows 10 / NT8 install; same problem - immediately. No infrastructure changes on my end; 20mb up - 200mb down - 55ms to Chicago. PC is over-kill.

From what I can see there have been some changes in the amount of data that comes in on the level 2 feed.

Happened a while ago - can't really remember the date - just the irate punters...

We had to make adjustments in Jigsaw to account for the extra load.

For a guy like me who use Ninja only for charting and execution I'm starting to wonder if there is any advantages with NT8 over NT7 at all?

How can something as simple and basic as a crosshair become worse from one version to the next? And take over a year to resolve...?

The only advantage I've discovered is the possibillity to tile up charts in the same window, i.e., Excel style with tabs/sheets.

I have made the switch to NT8, and I'm not going to go back, simply because NT7 is not going to get any attention any more from Ninja, and it was getting old and creaky compared to its rivals.

But if someone only wants to have one or two charts up, nothing much on them, and enter some trades, 7 is perfectly OK, and, until the crosshair was fixed, 8 was not. Having a crosshair that didn't work just made me shake my head.

I don't want to pound on @NinjaTrader, who is a good guy and whose people are working hard. But, to be blunt about it, everything is SierraChart works, and there are more features in it and have been for years. Ninja should feel a sense of urgency about bringing its product up to speed.

I like NT better and will stay with it. Also, compared to NT7, the performance improvements of NT8 are worth it by themselves. It also is better for anyone who wants to customize it. There are many good things about it. They are coming slowly, but they are coming.

The question is always, what do you need. For many, NT7 may be enough.

Bob.

The only sense of urgency should be to improve the QA process, and maybe consider redesigning/reimplementing some aspects that must be flawed or badly built in the first misguided rush to get it out.

Well, that too.

Bob.

i remember when i switched to NT7,years ago.I was a bit concerned, but the transition was smooth enough. However, im holding out with NT7 for now.I use vwap, and some real basic indicators, and the chart trader i have been comfortable with for a long time.I cant imagine not having a good crosshair.Another aspect that was probably allready mentioned is price.Ive had the NT lifetime license($1000) for a long time.Im not sure what sierra charges.I tried sierra years ago, very nice platform, but it was pricey.

I think they charge about $25 a month, and a little more (around $35) if you want a couple of extra things. Compared to leasing NT ($180 for 3 months), it's less than half the price. They don't do a lifetime license. I think they give a better deal for a longer-term lease (as does NT.)

I'm not advertising SierraChart, just commenting on the price. I'm not using them, which is another comment, in a way. They are a nice platform, though.

Yes. Not only the crosshair, but some other drawing tools as well. I use the ruler a lot and it seems slow to respond. Never an issue on NT7.

It seems like maybe this issue has been resolved now based on your comments on the last update. I will upgrade this weekend. But I don't think it's acceptable that fixing a crosshair has taken over a year? Something that should have been smooth from day one?

I hate to do that myself and I have been one of NTs biggest defenders in the past when people have badmouthed the platform. This has been easy for me since my experiences are mostly entirely positive with NT7. Rarely or never crashed. Runs smoothly. Nice charts. Does what I want it to. Etc.

But, with NT8, I have been feeling some annoyance and like you allude to, I don't think they seem to keep up with their competition like Sierra which seems to be fast with implement new feautures, fix bugs and even add indicators/studies requested by users. NT won't even let me plot basic OHLC lines for a trading day and I have to get it done by a 3rd party.

But what are the performance improvements really?

With a slow crosshair and users reporting of performance issues?

Based on my subjective feel of the software, I have not yet noticed any improvement on NT8 over NT7 and I'm running it on a new and fast computer.

Like you, I will probably move on to NT8 and stay with it, but I wish I was a bit more happy about the entire process. Maybe I'm also still a little annoyed that NT also made their software unavailable for a lot of brokers that they used to support in the past.

Do you have a screenshot of what you were trying to accomplish ... and what 3rd party indicator did you use?
