NinjaTrader is required to change a SSL certificate that is used in validating your license resulting in a mandatory software update. All users must update to version 7.0.1000.31 prior to Saturday, February 27th. Failure to do so will result in disruption of service.
Are you by chance running Windows XP? There is a known issue where R31 will not work on XP. Windows XP users are advised to stay on R30 until we have a fix.
I use Win7, I had connection problem (connection string invalid) after running the upgrade. It took me 2 hours to get back to where I was. And I have been running multiple backups just in case I run into the same problem again.

Just a reminder to all NinjaTrader users that there is mandatory update to version R31 required before February 27th, only a a few weeks away. Please update as soon as possible to avoid disruption of service.
To clarify...I expect our support resources to be overwhelmed resulting in delays in delivering timely responses to our clients.
Therefore, if you are someone who might need assistance OR want to make sure you are not disrupted --> Don't wait until the last minute and PLEASE update now

I upgraded on a Win 7 machine but it was very slow. It took about 30min. It hung a little on the progress. Just be patient. I closed all apps and installed Win updates before the upgrade.
If you experience a similar issue, just be patient. Just leave it alone and walk away.
Make a backup before the upgrade too.
Good luck.

Most hangups and sloth on Win 7 machines at the moment are being caused by Microsoft's post-SP1 Windows Update itself. If you see svchost hogging a whole core you've got it. There are hundreds of questions and fixes and solutions for many different conditions and thousands of cases out on the web, but not so many simple good ones.

I am running this latest version but after update my NT goes blank several times a day. All charts from all desktops are complete white. Then, after 3, sometimes 5 minutes, comes back to normal.
Please contact our support team at platformsupport@ninjatrader.com and provide a way for our support staff to contact you. In that mail please reference your FIO post so that we may help you work through what is going on.
I was getting this too in Market Replay mode when I changed instruments. I kept repairing the database, shutting down and starting again. It seems to have worked itself out for now, although it can sometimes take a while to load a new ES quarter.

My Internet Service Provider came to my spot to check for internet problems and also Drew from NT Plataform support contacted me as scheduled.. well, the diagnosis was something related to conection problems, external to Ninja. A problem related to a cable on the street is the cause for instabilities.

I lost the 64-bit version, completely.
Folder "bin64" is empty after "update"
Find Solution:
Content of folder "bin64" must be saved on side BEFORE UPDATE!, and restored after update to 7.0.1000.31
It work, NinjaTrader7 64-bit work with this manipulation.
Something went wrong or you did something wrong.
If you backup/restore the bin64 directory then you'll have older .exe and Ninja .dll for the 64 bit version, 7.0.1000.30 or what you had previously, not a good idea...

It would be a much better idea to contact Ninja trader support (you can email directly from the Help menu) and get help in making sure the conversion is done right. They can even connect remotely and step though the conversion and troubleshoot any issues. This is not a problem that other people are having, and as Sam says, it looks like you just restored the old version right back (bin64 contains NinjaTrader.exe, the actual program file)....
The easier in this case is maybe to uninstall Ninja, be sure there is no more "C:\Program Files (x86)\NinjaTrader 7" directory, then install it once again.
The important folder you don't want to lose is "My Documents\NinjaTrader 7".

I think that can happen when individuals run the installer without closing the NinjaTrader application. In any case, that's why we want users to update now vs waiting until the last minute. So that any potential issues can be resolved well ahead of time.
what happen was the update message popup when ninja open and the popup message didn't specifically instruct to close ninja before updating or didn't make it strong enough.
@NinjaTrader, if that's what happens, a quick programming change in the installer could check for NinjaTrader running, give a message and then stop the install until it is closed. That would be better than having to rely on telling people in a forum post, wouldn't it? Could bypass some support problems, too.

Like Sam said ,(Instructions,),must have ninja OFF,,,I did NOT remove anything, just got on the download page from Support center in Help, got key ready to paste, Closed Ninja, then did download again,,and it fixed itself.
Hope this helps, and makes since,,,my computer skills are horrible ,along with my typing.
NinjaTrader 8 installer works this way however for various reasons, it was not a viable change in NinjaTrader 7. We did amend our advisory with explicit instructions to shut down NinjaTrader.

Also, I´ve spent the morning running A LOT of Windows Update (dot net 4.5.x, 4.6.x and even 3.x) and restore points and now, it seems the strange behavior is gone! Finally!
At least today NT did not gone blank even once.
As of this past weekend, 15,068 users have migrated to R31. While this is substantial, we still have a long way to go. If you have not updated yet, please do so to ensure you that you will not suffer a disruption in service.
Just so that users are aware... I was already on the latest version but I got the Advisory 27 telling me to upgrade anyway... I asked in the NT forum and they replied this is expected behavior... just dismiss the reminder....
After Feb 27th the symptom will be this one, correct?
So the user won't know his Ninjatrader application is "broken" until he restart Ninja, or is there a regular license polling and then the user will see the problem if he keeps running a previous version?

I expect that resulting in delayed support response times due to our team being oversubscribed. Point is, for those who have not yet updated...I would do it now. This ensures that if you require assistance, you will not be asking us for it during the storm.

While the overwhelming majority of users have updated without incident, those that have run into issues have been promptly resolved. We have posted a FAQ of these common issues along with their resolutions in our support forum.
May not be a update problem but on min charts, days get cut off, but on any other chart everything shows up . Or my Rth charts won't show up one day like today, I can only see y-days stuff, but my 24hr 2min charts are printing real time .
Anyone know the possible causes for screwy min chart problems ?
