Monitor configurations are not the same

Sure, it depends how you structure your chart spaces. I use a 4 monitor main station (only 3 for Ninja) in the office and a dual screen laptop at home. Each chart has a relative position set from the 'Main' Windows monitor in complete (all monitors) X, Y pixel space, -ve is left or up from top left at (0, 0), +ve is right and down.

You will see the positions in the .xml files under the LOCATION tags, again easy to see/carefully edit in WordPad.

I don't transfer workspaces across very often but it is easy enough once you know for sure that Ninja doesn't help itself, so you have to work a bit harder. Situation normal and still 500X better than Microsoft. E.g. in this case just reset all LOCATION tags to 0;0 and all charts will stack at top left to start with. This is also a fast way to recover missing charts/output windows/alert windows/databoxes.

If you want to actively and frequently switch between machines without using remote viewers then you have to be realistic and align your monitor configurations as best you can or just be prepared to use only 'common screen ground' for shareable charts, or hand edit the .xml files for less frequent transports.

Cheers

Hi ratfink,

thanks for your clarifications. It was really helpful. I trade from Mo - Th with friends in our Office and the other Time at home. At the Office i use 2 40" 4K Monitors and at Home the screens, that come before.

i like to make my daily Plan at Home and use it at the office.

In my configuration, iis not possible to transfer the workspace xml so i have to buy the same screens like in the office, and everything is fine.

In the meantime i reduce the Number of Ninja Windows and have a look at the workspace.xml. That was the missing link for me.

Thanks ratfink, sam028 and rleplae

It might not be as hard as you imagine, all those monitors will be one big joined pixel space (should be 3,4,5,6 in -ve X, 1,7,2 +ve X), +/-Y mixture from top-left of 1), have fun playing hunt the chart anyway!

Cheers

edit: Flagrant self-promotion alert - I'm using this now, rocks for me :

Might help once you have defined a 'common' area of monitor real estate, and then break up big workspaces into smaller workspaces and grouped subsets in FlipCharts. I used to have to see everything all the time, now I find my brain less stressed with some of my lower timeframe charts hidden unless I really need them.

Anyway 2 X 40" monitors, pah. Envy. It is funny though, I used to have an almost identical 7 monitor collection, now a couple have died/been stolen by children/borrowed by cats/replaced, etc I just use 3+1 in office and dual at home, the group switch is so fast in FlipCharts that it no longer matters.

Thanks for this perfect suggestion.

I made a new workspace only for these charts and position these charts on Monitor 1.
Then I syncronize only this workspace betwen the PC's.

I will test this szenario in the next week and post the news ;-)

Big Thanks for the help. I appreciate that.

Just for the Record:
Drawing Objects which are not marked as global are saved in the xml file in the workspace folder containing these charts
