NinjaTrader has an unfortunate built-in automatic deletion of drawing objects older than 20 days when a workspace is opened after a period of inactivity greater than that duration (i.e. without an intervening save). Within the program there is no way to prevent this (confirmed by Ninja support and accepted as a feature improvement request.)
I have since found my own simple solution - just open the workspace nnnnn.xml file in WordPad or similar and do a fast global replace of the date associated with all the object <LastSeen> tags and save the modified file. E.g. in my case I did a global replace of 31-12-07 to 31-12-31, ignoring the tag and the time component.
Problem sorted, then just remember to save a workspace at least once every 20 days and you won't have to do this.
