Server side synthetic orders (OCO, trailing stops)
I'm wondering which platforms park their synthetic orders on it's own servers, keeping orders like OCO and trailing stops active in an eventual Internet connection loss.
I know that in Ninja/Zen-fire OCO orders are hosted on the client software. Infinity Transact AT either. One Strategy Runner guy told me it's software park this kind of order on their servers, but I couldn't imagine how it could be done, since Strategy Runner doesn't have it's own routing gateway network, as it uses TT, Onyx, PATS, etc, depending on the broker.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Strategy Runner does do this - i know for shure.
you can have your positions running with auto-strategys or just bracket orders on it, shut down your PC + go -- all is fine + still keeps on working.
But it does it regardless of the routing engine? Depending on the IB, your Strategy Runner orders are routed with different technologies like TT, PATS, etc. Did you test it by yourself? Which IB were you using?
i used SR for a long time myself.
i know no technichal details (i am no IT-guy) but the StrategyRunner trading was serverbased with all orders + attached stuff related to it.
i had a PATS-feed with RCG as clearer.
when i began trading futures i choosed SR exactly because of this feature - cause i wanted to be secure as possible in this case ... DSL / broadband wasnt established here yet at this time.
i switched to NinjaTrader 2 years ago now - as NT 6.5 was ready + came out of beta.
StrategyRunner was one of the very first plattforms wich allowed trading out of a chart - i loved that (and still trade like this)
SR is a trade-platform with trading from charts - but no good charting-tool at all
so for the charting i had an extra software (i used Visual Charts - a spanish software).
then came NT 6.5 + it combined these 2 features pretty good + some friends recommended Ninja because of c#-coding - so i switched - full programm : new broker, new plattform, new chartsoft.
well - no more serverbased security like SR but lots of other for me important features.
Zen-Fire
Orders in a state "Accepted" or "Working" are at the exchange. If the exchange does not support a specific order type, the order will be active on the Zen-Fire servers. OCO (One Cancels Other) functionality is simulated on your local PC.
Vision Financial Markets
