The easier is to create a strategy which is listening on a specific socket, or in WCF, named pipes, ...
It can then act as a proxy from an external application and will be have all the useful logic (positions, P&L, ...).

Hi Sam....found this old post by searching "OIF" which is what I'm trying to get implemented and started a new thread:

Is anyone writing a script for NT8 to import order instructions Order Instruction Files (OIF) txt from another charting app. I can get my Ensign Charting app to generate any text I want upon certain conditions being met. Is there anyone writing a script for Ninja to import Ensign's txt to activate NT8's F4(BUY) or F9(SELL) Hot Keys? My ATM kicks in when I use my keyboard F4 or F5. Talking about a poor man's algo trading.... I think. Cant figure how to even search this type of functionality scripting for inter app connectivity.

Thanks in advance

Still around and have any more up2date ideas?............THAT would be a nice XMAS gift

I don't see an easy way to do this.
If Ensign doesn't have some kind of high level API, and can only write a text file, the solution I see is having a NinjaScript indicator which:
- some kind of button or GUI element which show a new .txt file coming from Ensign has arrived
- check if a new .txt file is there and analyze it
- traps some hotkeys (not predefined hotkeys which BUY/SELL) and generate the order
