Hi,
Does anyone have any suggestions on when I open a new chart in ninja trader it does not show any data or show the instrument?

Try this, otherwise can you give more information?

NT7 takes a really long time to load. Sometimes, you have to change the number of bars loaded (ex: 500 to 501) to get it to reload the chart. Reloading all historical data DOES NOT always work. Especially true in Replay.

This sometimes happens. Even ' reload historical data ' doesn't help then. I go these steps then :

Disconnect Ninja from any data - connection.

Run Explorer > Ninja trader and empty > cache > log > trace

go to ' Windows ' > prefetch and empty it

go to ' Windows ' > pchealth > helpctr > DataColl and delete all files stored there

Go to Control Center > Tools > Options > Misc and click ' Repair DB '. Your database

will be repaired / the data new compiled - this needs a small moment.

Restart your machine. Windows will create new clean prefetch files automaticly. Give

your machine a bit time to reorganize all the files, watch the CPU - activity to be in-

formed, when the process is finished.

Ninja now usually will suck clean new data after reconnection to your provider and

and show you the chart of you choice again.

Regards

Klaus

I have constantly this problem between loading charts. I have to constantly restart Ninjatrader in order to load the data correctly from my data-feed, I am using eSignal as my datafeed.
I have also my own Ninja-trader Strategy programmed in Ninjascript.
I need to know what is causing this behavior, because I can not have it like this anymore.
My ninjascript can also NOT fetch the correct price and MasterInstrument.PriceLevel only shows the value 1.

Screenshot of how it looks like when Ninjatrader does not want to load the data:

As soon as this happens, I have to restart Ninjatrader and then as soon as this happens again, I have to do it again.
It is very unreliable to work like this!

I need someone to help me understand what Is causing this strange behavior.

I have constantly this problem between loading charts. I have to constantly restart Ninjatrader in order to load the data correctly from my data-feed, I am using eSignal as my datafeed.

Reproducible like so:

1) Most common reason is insufficient 'Days to load' set in the Ninja Data Series options (e.g. 1 day when trying to load intraday data on a Sunday or a Monday), simply increasing to 4 solves any weekend problems.

2) NT7 is best used with the eSignal 10.6 DM, NT8 with the eSignal 11/12 versions of the DM, compulsory if using indexes.

3) I have also seen this on random occasions, it usually only happens on a mid-session Ninja restart and is associated with the Cache folder in the DB folder. Deleting just that clears it, so long as you do it with Ninja closed. I also typically find it needs a few seconds to be 'good' before restarting NT, but I'm sure this part is just old wives.

Only very rarely (1/month) is a full Windows restart required. NT7+eSignal is now incredibly stable for me.

4) Check your Tools->Options->Data settings, make sure Get data from server is checked. Restart needed on change.

I use:

(It does the Save chart data as historical in any case regardless of setting, although I always chuck the data away to make daily NT folder backups a cinch anyway.)

Hope something helps,

Cheers

Thank you ratfink for your ideas.
I had actually found a calculation error in my trace file that caused the NT strategy to stop and therefore I could not load any more data, so once I fixed the error the data load error disappeared. Now I have a different problem where my strategies disable eachother when I add multi-charts for FX risk lot-sizing calculation.

The name of the thread is: NT7 - Strategies not fully isolated and disabling each other when using Add() for FX.
I am posting only the name as I can not post an URL.

I was hoping that that the data loading error was related to the FX thing as well, but now that data loads correctly, I have this last problem that I need to solve before I can trade.
