@NinjaTrader Ray will be presenting a webinar on futures.io (formerly BMT), Tuesday 5/12 @ 4:30PM ET. The topic will be NinjaTrader 8 and will involve a Q&A as usual.

I'll post the details soon.

NinjaTrader,

I am sure this has been discussed somewhere but I just can't find it.

Q) I know there is going to be a new way of drawing objects on the screen in NT8. Is there however going to be a some way we can access similar Plot Override functionality along with the Graphics Object?
I have about 12000 lines of a partially completed project where I have used this NT7 functionality extensively. It would be nice if there was some way to use this functionality and make the job of porting our work a little easier.

I am getting the horrible feeling from reading the little info available that I am looking at another learning curve and possibly a complicated rewrite.
In essence, All my calculations are done in the On Bar Update Section. I use Plot Override to simply to render drawing objects to the screen. I would have stayed with the built in NT7 Ninjascript if I hadn't met a number of limitations along the way.

Thanks in advance for the response.

This level of question is best suited for the NinjaTrader 8 section of our own support forum. That being said, NT7 uses Winforms while NT8 for charts uses DirectX hosted in WPF window. My point is the technologies are completely different for those doing custom rendering.

im not a beta tester for NT8, but ive been playing with win 10 for along while now in VM. do you have someone seeing if these two play nicely with each other yet? i know ive asked this before, but MS is going to be pushing this one hard with the free upgrades and what not.

i have NT8 and Win10, NT8 plays nicely. This is expected because WPF and .Net is all windows. NT even uses microsofts Local SQL database. So your good there!

my other concern was for how NT8 handles workspaces and how its a bit wonky. how does this play with win10s virtual desktops? im guessing if there was an issue you could just run all charts on one workspace and divide them up by virtual desktops.

Per my agreement with NT i cant comment on performance including how it works with win workspaces.

I personally use something called deskpot works great for multiple workspaces Win7+

Nice Sody, Makes multiple monitors obsolete.

I really should drop Fences and remove shortcuts from my Desktop. How do you deal with application icons and shortcuts? All grouped in the Windows 8 Start page?

Exactly i am a bit OCD and keep my desktop clean. I do use something called rainmeter for desktop UI. But i think we are getting off topic lol..

Ha Ha..

Multiple monitors obsolete .. Don't tell that to my wife, otherwise I could not justify my six monitor setup.

Cheers,

Sody
