Hi,
Apologies if this was already mentioned in this thread (or other thread).
I have attended webinars and also read the PDF but could have missed this information,
Will NT8 and NinjaScript have some kind of library to store snippets of code and then Reuse it?
(I AM a six month NT7 user and have to copy-paste a lot of code to build estrategies and was wondering if this area will be enhanced on NT8)

Thanks, Cheers and Happy Holidays,

Best Regards.

MrTrader,

NT7 and NT8 does have a snippet system in the NinjaScript editor where you can right click in the code editor and select “Insert Code Snippit”. Unfortunately it is currently limited to snippits we have predefine, more information can be found here: Code Snippets

There is also a new feature in NT8 which may indirectly address your item which is the ability to exclude a file from compilation. This would give you the ability to create a file where you could store any code/text that you wanted to keep easy access too for easy copy and paste operations that doesn’t get included in compilation.

Hi Guys,

I'm going to upgrade my hardware system when NT8 comes out .. or perhaps beforehand.

What sort of platform is recommended to run NT8 and how can we size it in terms of pure CPU resources necessary and memory.

Is there an easy way for us to estimate resources necessary depending on number of charts and workspaces, doms and broker connections ?

What tools can you recommend we use on our current systems to clock them to estimate what will be necessary for the new release.

I appreciate you may not have the perfect answer to this rather imperfect question ... so just give it a shot.

Wow. My cell phone is faster. Literally, faster. (Quad core 2.5Ghz, 3GB ram).

I think the user was asking for recommendations not minimum requirements. It's safe to say, the recommendation should always be to buy the fastest system you can afford to build. Emphasis on a fast SSD, at least 8GB of memory, and fast CPU. The video card is the least important for traders, after considering its multi-monitor support.

I did think that Ninja was throwing around the idea of using GPU support for faster processing speed being that for the money, you could destroy CPU performance. Not that I know much about this but I would refer to coin mining rigs as my example.

Maybe this will be for Ninja 9?

NinjaTrader 8 uses DirectX for rendering charts. DirectX is processed by graphics card vs CPU. Majority of PC's these days have graphics cards that support DirectX. Shouldn't be an issue but we thought it made sense to include this specification in our minimum requirements.

But the GPU will not contribute in any way towards running back tests and optimizations, correct?

Only to the extent that you would view a chart of your backtest results in the Chart embedded in the Strategy Analyzer.
