@DrRumpy
You can find the fractals base code on the TS Forum here on post #12
https://community.tradestation.com/Discussions/Topic.aspx?Topic_ID=53278

You only need to modify the plots from paintbar to plot lines.

That is fantastic! Thanks you. It's exactly what I was looking for. Transferring my approach to Ninja will save me time and money. That monthly software fee for TS is not cheap.

How easy is it to take TS code and port it to NinjaTrader?

You need to recode the indicator entirely, but it is a pretty simple indicator. Maybe 1 hour.

Josh ... what are your entry and exit rules ... are you trading this indicator as a band strategy, or is your alpha entry a break of the upper/lower channels?

Hi @TraderJim618,

The Fractal Channel indicator provides support and resistance for me. It can confirm and entry or exist when the market is choppy. Specifically, if things are going sideways it is very common to see price yo-yo between the top and bottom fractal channel. Stops go one tick or so on the other side.

Entries actually come of a confluence of other indicators like CCI/DPO/Value. That part is not too hard really, the indis hook down and look like things are going short, only to hook back the other way and go long. Tight stops take care of that.

Looking to left to see if things are ranging or trending makes a big difference. Confirming on a higher TF does to if ever there is indecision. I am still paper trading daily to master the pattern recognition skills but it is going well. I have had the good fortune to find a successful mentor, and this person has propelled my education forward by years.

The killer snag for me, which is not at all an issue now during paper trading, is I will _never_ be able to use TradeStation for my broker because of where I live. So, I need to replicate the fractal channel indi for Ninja.

Regards,

Josh.

@Fat Tails

I'm still wet behind the ears here in the Forums. So, I failed to recognize my illustrious company in this thread. I upgraded to elite last night and perused the Indicators. So, I should like to acknowledge you appropriately for you extensive indicator work.

/bow

Now I shall suck up. Could you recommend a good resource for me to start with so that I might learn to code this indicator?

Regards,

Josh.

I have you have some knowledge of C#, you should be able to code that indicator by modifying the Swing indicator that comes with NinjaTrader.
