i am running one strategy on ninjatrader covering 100 nasdaq stocks.
all positions are held overnight, normally for at least 3 weeks.
if i shut down ninjatrader or if i edit my strategy to change some parameters, when i re-enable that strategy those positions i was holding are no longer there, NT cannot reconcile them i guess.
so question is how do i shut down NT but still manage to continue the strategy when i startup again with the same positions and logic/trailing stops.etc

thanks so much

Might I suggest leasing a server from Speedy Trading Servers

You get server uptime, it forces you to streamline your system, provides a production environment so you can screw up your development environment and it's close to the east coast fun so lower lag time to the trading servers.

Doubling up on Ninjatrader may cause some headaches in terms of multiple datafeeds, life time licenses and what have you but it's worth it I feel.

I think there's a deal for being a nexusfi.com (formerly BMT) member still live. Contact Sam028

hi E

thanks for the suggestion, i am already running my strategy on a VPS but this does not really solve my problem as ninjatrader still needs to be shutdown at least once a week

thanks anyway

I have the same problem. The only solution NT offers is to sync the real world to its (now demented) view of things. Did you make any progress Jiorose?

Hmm, why shutdown Ninja at least once a week?
During the defunct Battle of the Bots experiment I didn't restarted Ninja for months...

Could be interesting to know why you need to reboot ?
probably a memory leak something similar...

Reboot is just walking around the problem, rather than solving the problem

No, and not after over week-ends.
If Ninja keep connected to the data feed provider then you should not have any issues.
