Hey guys.
I've developed a script in ThinkOrSwim that I need to backtest (and forward test). I'm quite comfortable programming and writing backtesting programs from scratch (in Java). But this time, I thought it might be easier/best to try out NT. NT looked very un-intuitive to me the last time I previewed it, so I was hoping you confirm what I need to get set up in general.
I need to backtest a couple years worth of 1-min data on the ES. I also need to integrate 7 other data points (like the VIX) into my calculations.
In order to test this, would be cheapest/best route be to get NT free + pay for Kinetick monthly service (so I can have access to 2 years worth of 1-min data)? IQFeed looks significantly more expensive.
Is there anything else I need to pay for? (I'm ok paying, just trying to evaulate my options).
Do I need a brokerage account to paper-trade or with NT simulate that for me?
Will Kinetick allow me access to the raw historical data (like in a flat file)?
Thanks In advance.
