Hi there I guess this question would be for Raymond and addressing NT 8... he might addressed it already however did not find anything using advanced search on futures.io (formerly BMT). Recently since MC /Multicharts/ came out finally with T&S, l've started to use MC8 64 8.7 beta 1. Soon enough I've ran into a Windows 7 GDI object limitation which is according to MC support 10,000 per application. MC support suggested as a workaround - it does work!!! - to start up another MC session /no additional license required/ on the same computer and "create additional objects" meaning new chart window, T&S, alerts etc... in this new MC session.

I wonder how NT 8 would deal with similar situation?! or if even tested for such situation? or by different design this is not an issue at all?
I do have a powerful machine with enough memory and SSD drive so it can handle the load easily and it is a requirement for the setup I have for my day-to-day activities.

As an fyi who does not know, GDI objects count can be displayed via Task manager using the enterprise version of Win 7, not sure about the home or other editions.

I do own full lic for NT and MC as well.

Thanks for your time in advance!!!

Having tried to win the NT prizes and hearing the comments, I'm guessing that those who won had some custom macro program or script tied to single key presses which would instantly copy the answer to the textbox along with a carriage return. Maybe having that 2nd or 3rd correct answer in line like was done in previous webinars would help next time. It sure was fast! I had the right answer too for most of the first questions, but my typing was too sloww.

I have now heard from all 16 winners, and have sent the winners info to NinjaTrader. They will contact the license winners in the next 3-4 days, and mail the shirts/hats in the next 1-2 weeks.

Mike/ Thanks for the NT8 webinar.

You offered a piece of info right near the end of the webinar [time 1:27:15] about a topic and I wondered if you could clarify.
[Raymond had been talking about NT8 supporting very small bits of data, down to milli seconds.]

Then, from memory, I believe you said something like: ....in NT8...."all that will be natively stored[?] and you won't need G...'s tools ..if you want to do any of that historical stuff"...

Not sure everything you were referring to...but would any of that relate to the historical data one uses for Market Replay? Will we be able to more directly use...say Kinetick stored data for Market Replay? vs how we have to now gather the data a day at a time ...& an instrument at a time?

Of course if anyone knows if Market Replay will be easier to use in the above regard, or historical data easier to get... please let me know any details you've heard.

Thanks again

WPF internally uses directX which is a different rendering technology than GDI. GDI was used by Windows.Forms. Meaning, you would not run into this problem with NT8.

What I was talking about was that NT8 won't need Gomi's framework like NT7 does in order to preserve historical bid/ask data, which is needed for some specialized indicators. In addition to that, NT8 will support historical bid/ask downloading from IQFeed and Kinetick, so if you have a hole in your data you can download it, assuming it is within the 120 day historical lookback period on the servers.

If I remember right Ray said downloading more than one day at a time would be in NT8 in the NT8 webinar before this one.

I just checked and you can download more than one day at a time. Check out the Feb-27 NT8 webinar starting at the 15 minute mark.

Of course you can speak your mind. You just can't be rude.

You might be right about TradeStation, I have never used it.

So what are the other platforms you eluded to in your first post that have this feature, especially non-forex ones?

Sent from my Nexus 4

Did not realize I was been rude by pointing out that this NTMobile program was a none-event (at least for me)as these is already a few out there such as VNC, TEAMVIEWER....just to name a few (for iPad, iPhone mobile devices)
I don't know what is available for Android, Blackberry and MSphone as I do not use those.
Anyway......
As for the other platforms offering a true Mobile feature:
TradeStation, TOS (use to have it, but I don't know if they still do as I had to close my account with theme when
Ameritrade took over- no overseas account) and MT4. Again I do not use MT4 as a trading platform but only use the
mobile App.
(The big problem with these mobile remote programs is that they do not work over 3G or Edge and furthermore one as to be connected to the same Internet service provider for the device to communicate with your PC)

Best,

nicosxm

that's not true and goes against the whole concept of the internet ie multiple global providers interconnecting with each other.

i connect using android to my pc via RDP and through a vpn on edge without issues
