Tried to connect my broker to NinjaTrader, but got error message about 32 bit?
My broker is TDAmeritrade. I downloaded NinjaTrader tonight because I wanted to use their market replay function. TDAmeritrade has a market replay, but there is a week lag time. In other words, I have to wait a week to replay the most current trading day. I followed the steps for connecting my broker to Ninjatrader, but then got some type of error message when I tried to connect.
I do not recall exactly what it said. I did not understand it in the slightest. Something about my broker is a 32 bit, and Ninjatrader is a 64 bit, or visa versa. WTH does this mean? Thanks!
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Yes, you will need to change broker unless the TD offers futures through its standard platform. Check with them. You can use a TD 32 bit version through ninja which limits memory. This is ok if you only have up a couple of charts though. …
So let me understand this, ok? TDAmeritrade is 32 bit, and Ninjatrader is 64 bit. But I can adjust the
setting on Ninjatrader to be 32 so it becomes compatible with TDameritrade? If you could help me out here, I'd
appreciate it.
There are two NinjaTrader executables, just start the 32bit version.
But why do you need to connect to your broker in the first place? NT has free market replay download and replay, no need to connect to a broker.
vvhg is right you can download the replay data from NT so you don't even need to connect TD. I suggest you go and read the ninjatrader manual and figure out how to download replay data and you should be good to go. It's all free.
i downloaded NT and explored the market replay option for the free version, and it appears that the market replay for the free version isn't necessarily market replay, but a random replay. On ToS I can pick and choose which date to replay, and it will replay the exact trading day I choose, and not a random creation. If I am wrong please let me know. The problem with ToS is that there is a waiting period of 1 week before I can replay the most current day. Thanks.
NinjaTrader offers the most accurate market replay in the industry. You can pick the start date and time in the app and then the replay speed, and you can skip forward or behind as needed.
You must be doing something wrong, but you don't provide enough info to tell you what.
I suspect you connected to our "Simulated Data Feed" which generates random market data driven by a user controlled trend slider. To use Market Replay you must have data available which you can download (popular futures and FX markets) for free or record yourself.
I have figured out how to download data for the market replay. I am replaying today's data as I write this.
But even though I am replaying data, I don't see anything on the screen itself. I know I am replaying data because of the
micro player in the top left corner. Now I just have to figure out how to get the candles on my screen so I can actually visually see the replay. Obviously I have not spend much time with it. I drive a truck for a living, and just got back late tonight from a trip to Salt Lake. So I haven't had a good block of time to figure out Ninja Trader. It is probably not too hard to figure out when I am not seeing anything on my Ninja Trader screen. I am expecting to see candles or bars forming as the replay advances. I will spend more time with it tomorrow. Thanks for your answer.
