Thanks Fat Tails.

I've been experimenting with different candle types today and
last weekend. Some are worse than others. None are really any
good. Momentum bars might be the least bad. Still... not good
enough.

Not much to see really.

First graph shows a chart using range=3

Second shows a momentum=3
Dynamic min=2
Gap setting=2

I thing the momentum is cleaner and clearer this time.

I have modified the ThrustBars Indicator and added a few lines of code.

Now tell me what you are going to do with it.

What I've done is take the other program you wrote for me:

PaintBarSMA2 and paired that with:

Momentum bars with:

Range=6
Dynamic min=2
Gap setting=2

As you can see from the first attachment (using old CL data) it creates dojis at times.
The obvious ones have a body of 2 ticks and a wick of 5 ticks. The two arrows show
two dojis in that attachment.

There are other dojis
as well that are not as doji-ish. In the second attachment there is a doji with a body
of 2 ticks and a wick of 4 ticks. That is indicated at the arrow. I'm thinking about where
to draw the line on what is or is not a doji...but that's another matter.

What I'm thinking about is using the PaintBarSMA2 color coding as being dominant (so to speak)
and also making dojis (at least the body=2 ticks wick=5 ticks ones) always color code to red, regardless
if the PaintBarSMA2 would have made them yellow or blue.

Red is my 'current trend has stopped for the moment' color.

Sometimes they will indeed color code to red, but that is because of coincidence related to the SMA2 program that
makes them red.

I applied the ana ThrustBars indicator with the PaintBarSMA2 indicator. I hoped the two programs
working together might be able to do the color coding I want. Can't seem to though.

Not really important, just wondering at this point if I did something wrong.

Please don't code anything for me just yet in case you were thinking about doing so.
I don't want you to waste time on this unless I feel I really really want to stick with it.
Maybe during my Thanksgiving days off I'll get an impression about all this.

Thanks,

- Stephen

@ stephenszpak: I do not remember any PaintBarSMA2 indicator. Are you sure that I am the author?

If there are two different indicators coloring candles the outcome will be unpredictable, you would need to use a single indicator instead.

I didn't think it would be easy (sigh).

Link shows you were indeed the author.

Yes, I see that I did code it at your request, but not knowing how you wanted to use it. So even if I have helped out with the code, I am not its creator.

Neither of the two indicators identifies small body bars. The Thrust Bar indicator detects genuine dojis (open = close) and let you select the candle outline color.

As a general rule you cannot combine two paint bar indicators within the same chart, because it is impossible to know which colors will prevail of the other colors.

doji when open = close leaves out many other doji variations, with this indi you can specify the minimum of body, tail and wick or tail or wick

I added some code to this to make a sound alert on paint of arrow but it is sounding close of every bar. Can someone tell me how to add a sound alert for when the arrow is drawn only?

I added this line ....

Code
Alert ("Doji", NinjaTrader.Cbi.Priority.High, "Doji", "Alert4.wav", 10, Color.Green, Color.Yellow);

like this

Code
if (wick0 >= wick && tail0 >= tail )
				    	DrawArrowDown("MyArrowDown"+CurrentBar, 0, High[0]+2* TickSize, barColorUp);
						Alert ("Doji", NinjaTrader.Cbi.Priority.High, "Doji", "Alert4.wav", 10, Color.Green, Color.Yellow);
					}
					else
					 if (wick0 >= wick || tail0 >= tail )
				    	DrawArrowDown("MyArrowDown"+CurrentBar, 0, High[0]+2* TickSize, barColorUp);
						Alert ("Doji", NinjaTrader.Cbi.Priority.High, "Doji", "Alert4.wav", 10, Color.Green, Color.Yellow);

I added this line ....
....

you need brackets for if condition if you want do more than one thing.

example:

if (...........)

{ // bracket open
do thing 1;
do thing 2;
do.....

} // bracket close

Need a little help. I put this in a ZIP file and Imported to Ninja, but after restarting Ninja the indicator is not in the list.
Is there something wrong with the file that causes this to happen?
thanks for your answer.

thanks for your answer.

this is cs file, not zip file.

1) copy cs file to folder Documents\NinjaTrader 7\bin\Custom\Indicator
2) re-import any zip file you imported successfully before
after these steps you should be able to find the new indicator.
