I think NinjaTrader, before releasing a final, should give it to a handful of users for a few days of testing. I see no downside....

I don't know if it's appropriate to post this here, but I encountered a problem since upgrading to Ninja 7.0.1000.6 on Saturday.

Suddenly around 2:30 this afternoon, 6E price got "stuck". Bid and Ask showed movement to the downside, but the price on the chart just stuck and wouldn't move for the 10 minutes I watched it until emailing Ninja Support. I had my chart(s) set to <Use Instrument Settings>.

Here is Cameron's response from NinjaTrader Support:

Glad to hear that resolved your issue. There has been a possible bug identified with Session Templates and we are looking into it, at this time setting the chart to 24/7 resolves this issue.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,
Cameron Rooney

I thought other futures.io (formerly BMT) members might benefit from this, in case anyone else was having a similar problem.

I am wondering if any of the programming gurus here can offer advice on securing a PC and specifically NT7 from hackers. I am working with a trading house in Chicago and this week they had their server hacked. I want to have some sort of protection againt people who would hack my machine with the intent to obtain information on my trading strategies. Is it possible to protect yourself from this kind of threat?

The problem is not NT7, but the OS itself.
Seven and Windows 2008 R2 are quite safe, very hard to hack.

It's all a bit depressing. 8 months in production and still churning out releases with 20-40 bug fixes in them. Will the list of bugs ever start reducing? I realise these bugs are priority but this is all no comfort to those of us who want to see the product move forward with some of the huge list of suggestions, not to mention the bugs that are viewed as minor (bugs which only affect non-US users is a good way of getting one of those) which just have little chance of being fixed for a year or two.

Really? Your complaining a software company is providing support? That's got to be a new one. Yes NT7 took a while to reach us but it's a vast improvement over 6.5 and imho the NT guys are doing a good job in fixing the inevitable bugs that will be found as the user base expands and the software is pushed hard. Also broker API's keep changing so NT needs updates to stay on top of the changes.

No I'm saying it's a shame there are still so many bugs after years of developing NT7. It's clear what level of unit testing went into NT7. As someone who paid for the product, put huge effort into the beta testing, and has spent many hundreds of hours writing workaround code to make automated trading with NT just about professional enough to use (despite all the claims that it's professional out of the box) I think I'm entitled to my opinion.

And while we're on the subject, I appreciate that many people use charts exclusively, but many of the fixes are either chart related or new broker related. I reported a bug over a year ago, and despite it going on the list, I'm now told that there are no real plans to fix it before the next major release, which I guess is 1-3 years away. Just so you have some background about why I find it a bit depressing.

Fair enough . I have put in a fair bit of time beta testing and sharing bug info in the process too. Some of the software I have tried in the past didn't even know what the word "support" meant so a forum, some actual development, bug fixes and responses to suggestions are streets ahead of many other products. I did almost bin NT for multicharts but NT7 keep me on side. I think the Ninja guys and girls have realized there mistakes in the NT7 upgrade process and I can't see that mess happening again. Ray pretty much said as much in one of the webinars he hosted on here.
