Mike,

Did you manage to run it using Wine?

I'm thinking for running a VirtualBox XP machine on Linux for similar need.

Cheers,

Nope. Sorry.

I think VirtualBox is your best bet. The overhead is relatively minimal considering.

1) Stop changing things. No new indicators, charts, or methods. Be consistent with what is in front of you first.
2) Start a journal and post to it daily with the trades you made to show your strengths and weaknesses.
3) Set goals for yourself to reach daily. Make them about how you trade, not how much money you make.
4) Accept responsibility for your actions. Stop looking elsewhere to explain away poor performance.

I suggest you try KVM instead of VirtualBox. A little harder to set up, but better performance.

Just to add to the list of tries

Tried to install NT7 on CrossOver with .NET 3.0
It installs but at the start it just crashes, still not working unfortunately.

Is NT 7 in beta better than 6.5? I didn't want to switch until it was out of beta. Why is everyone switching to 7 already?

I just tried MultiCharts on Ubuntu 11.4 and latest beta of wine and it still doesn't work. I might put some work into this and see if I can make it work. I really prefer linux to windoze

NinjaTrader 7 requires .net35. Wine does not have a very stable or good version of .net35 yet....once it does I am going to pursue getting NT7 running under Ubuntu just like SC, although without as much passion since I can trade on SC and I find it to be as good as, if not better, than NT.

My focus is on:
1. Avoid the opening chop.
2. Honor stops
3. Ensure reward > risk on all trades

Bump!

Any update on NT under Ubuntu? I can't see anything on the NT site. Would love to be able to get it to work.

Its probably never going to happen besides running Windows and NT within a virtual machine. NT v7 requires .NET v3 and NT v8 will require .NET v4.

You could either run a full screen virtual machine in a dedicated virtual desktop or physical display or use VMware's seamless app integration feature (hides the Windows desktop) and run the app "along side" Linux applications.
