Need help fixing problem with bad file downloaded from Big Mike's
Please help me fix this proble. In NT 7 I downloaded from here two indicators "DoubleMAPaint_SharkyPkg.zip" and "DoubleMAPaintHolygrailV2". Imported them into NT7. It did not say any error at the time of import. When I applied them to a chart they did not work right, so I thought I will use just the plain DoubleMAPaint.zip. When I tried to import that, NT gave error message saying "there are errors in your indicators, they must be resolved first". I found that both of above had error in them saying something to the effect "Name place name is missing". I tried to delete them from NT. But when trying to delete, it said "can't be deleted, file is likely referenced by other files and these dependencies need to be removed first.
So, I am stuck.
Can somebody help me please, tell me how I can remove these files or give me a good file that can replace the existing files. Thanks.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
The stuff in that old sharky thread is really outdated, you should not be looking at it in my opinion because a lot of the indicators were written for NT 6.5 or NT7 beta before NT7 final was released.
Go to tools - edit indicator, pick anything, open it, and then press F5. Expand the error column so we can see the full error message, and post a screenshot.
And if you use Windows Explorer and go to Documents\NinjaTrader 7\bin\custom\Indicators, and find DoubleMA* and delete those files, then exit and reload Ninja, any problems?
@ju1234: When you imported the indicators, there was another indicator installed along with it. Probably you have then removed that other indicator, which can no longer be referenced.
However, there is a simple solution to this problem. Your error message shows the NinjaScript files that produce the error in the first column. Just open the directory Documents -> NinjaTrader 7 -> bin -> custom -> Indicators and manually delete the indicator files that cause the problem. Now open any indicator via Tools -> Edit NinjaScript and compile it via F5.
If you still get an error message repeat the process until the errors are gone.
