Good idea. But, they really need to make this easier. I see this being something a lot of users want to do -- base an indicator off another DataSeries, without that DataSeries being visible. They just need a switch "Visible: yes/no".

Mike

I had suggested some months ago to Ninjatrader that they give the option of assigning an instrument to a chart without having it plot at all, so that it would not have any effect on the scaling of other indicators. They did not see the merit of that suggestion. Maybe if a few hundred more people asked for it......

Imagine being able to do that for instruments having different time frames, that would be sweet.

DarthTrader, dx27: Assuming you are referring to Gomi's indicators, see this posting about how to get recording of bid and ask data to work.

Also look through the Buy/Sell Volume thread on the Ninjatrader forums.

If you need more help send me a private message.

Latest beta of NT7 is now version 7.007. Not a good idea to keep using Beta 1 if anyone is doing so.

Thank you Zondor, I just want open charts and get historical data populated from the datafeed just like in IRT or MD without need to record. I guess its not possible yet.

I was under the impression this would not work as there isn't really a spot in the database to hold this info. The wording with the pre release was quite confusing in this area. I only used the first beta and decided to wait for whole thing to be released though.

Bid, Ask and Trade info are kept as different time series, with no synchronization between them. So the bid/ask info is pretty much useless... Looks like you're stuck with GomRecorder for persisting bid/ask info for some time :-)

Well it's more than that, the feature is also really required for indicators. I want a simple "enabled/disabled" switch for indicators, like there is for strategies. So I don't have to remove an indicator with 20 plots on it and then add it back just to test something.

That sucks. Looks like cunparis was right on this, and I was wrong.

For more info on bid/ask you can check

BidAsk Historical... - [AUTOLINK]NinjaTrader[/AUTOLINK] Support Forum

and specifically post 10

>> that we simply can not backfill stuff made using onmarketdata() in 7 like we could not in 6.5
Your understanding is correct
.

and post 21

Guys,

Let me outline the opportunities and limitations of the new historical bid/ask feature.
- you could have multiple bid/ask/last series on your indicator/strategy
- the historical bid/ask series would hold ALL bid/ask events sent out by the exchange. Thus, it would NOT be the bid/ask at the time a trade went off
- on the historical part they would be replayed by OnBarUpdate
- OnMarketData only would be triggered realtime
- on historical replay the series are synced by their timestamp
- timestamps in NT are down to 1 second granularity
- on realtime obviously the OnBarUpdate events on multiple series come in at the sequence as sent out by the exchange

So:
- the EXACT sequence of a mix of bid/ask/last events will NOT be maintained while processing the historical data from multiple series
- the EXACT sequence of the bid/ask/last events by themselves WILL be maintained while processing the historical data from multiple series

However, on events with DIFFERENT timestamps the sequence always IS maintained.

Hope this sheds some light.

Hey guys!

Here is a quick video I made showing some of the biggest changes in NT7. I think most of you know I'm not very happy with the development of NT7 in general, so I've been putting it off for quite a while to be honest.

...

I'll plan to make another video showing the new strategy analyzer and genetic optimizer, and the new market replay features. That will also give me an opportunity to talk more about the continuous contracts, as that is a key feature in strategy development. Give me some time

Mike

THANK YOU! I'm also really looking forward to the Strategy Analyzer and market replay features in 7.

BM,

You said you were gonna work on a video for SA and Optimization for NT7?
I'm curious to watch =) and hear your commentary.

thanks!

HI Mike,

Does NT7 Strategy Wizard allow to build multi-range-frame strategies (thinking SbSRenko) ?

TIA!
TJ
