This is the UniRenko with Settings of 4/4/1 (1 is the fake offset of 1)

Below is the SoRenko with a setting of 4/4. The open is fixed at the close

Below are the BrickBars, based on BetterRenko. It creates more bars, but represents the trades more accurately.

...

Charting is just a way of representing a set of data graphically as oppose to reading numbers rolling on screen horizontally. There is no fake/real way to chart them. Different authors prefer data to graph in different ways.

Monpere wrote in his description: "Like most Renko bars, the bar open is artificial."

In the UniRenko code the artificial open is called "fakeOpen". If it is set for example halfway down or up the last bar. It does not represent a real trade. It is a fake insofar as it is not based on any data. It only creates a pleasing optical illusion.
If on set the open at the last close (as I did with SoRenko and BrickBar, it represents a real tick that would have been tradable theoretically.

Charts always represent data in a special way. They are closely related to indicators - with all the disadvantages (lag, noise, false signals etc). That is one of the reason why I am trying to create a bar or chart style that is close to the reality but at the same time easily readable. BrickBars come close to this ideal for intraday trading.

Soren,

Thanks for that... seems very interesting...

On a side but important note, is someone experiencing memory leaks with UniRenko?

I've started to see NT occasionally start eating up all memory to the point it hangs completely.
I believe the code must have some initialization issues... Couldn't determine what the problem is yet... If someone knows how to solve the problem please post a new version of the UniRenko bars or the solution for the problem here. Thanks!

I think this is further evidence of issues some of us have previously experienced. So far as i know there is no update that addresses the problem. My work around has been to remove the workspace and start over, painful but it is what i have to do. For me the problem you describe shows up when i have done market replay and then attempt to go live.

I looked into the code and I don't seem to be able to find out what the problem is... maybe someone more experienced with bar type coding may help here... yep.. this is pretty serious since will bring down not only NT but your entire desktop...

I am getting the same sort of issues as described by others. My Ninja Doesn't freeze completely but for example if I try to open a new chart I can click on OK in the bottom left to open the chart and it just does nothing.

The only way I can get away from that screen is to push Control/Alt/Delete and without having to do anything else once I click on task manager it appears. I have been through every indicator I own and thought it might have been one of those but it is not. The only fix is to redo the whole work space which for anyone who runs a lot of charts is agony, takes me an hour minimum. Then anywhere between 3 to 10 days later the same issue shows back up.

I have been through Ninja Support, deleted DB, Cache, Re-installed Ninja from scratch and nothing works. Originally I thought it was corrupt work spaces but this most recent time it happened i loaded the exact same setup on my laptop and the issue wasn't there.

I will have my programmer work on this and see if we can find a fix for everyone's sake.

Mitch

Take a look at trace files, and also take a look at taskmgr and check memory consumption when this happens. Are you running the x86 or x64 build?

Mike

Hey mike thanks for the reply. I haven't checked memory during while it happening but I will next time. The trace file leads to no clues. I have had ninja support look over the trace and log and there is nothing in there that shows what is happening while the issue is present. Have had my programmer look over things and he has found plenty of issues and says tue code is pretty messy, in his view. I am having him deal with it, it's way past my pay grade! I am do the basics and can trouble shoot most ninja issues but this one has got me good.

Ill report back if we can get it fixed to prevent the issues. If not I will be rewriting the code a it is a great tool, only if it worked right the whole time, not just 95% of the time.

Mitch

Folks,
These bars have become an integral part of my trading systems.
I went ahead and fixed the memory leak on the UniRenko bars. Now I can market replay a strategy without any memory leaks which is awesome.

I didn't want to attach here because it seems to be an elite indicator. Can someone tell me how to move this code up to the elite circle? or can I just attach here?

Thanks!
