Looking for NT7 CCI Indicator based on EMA and not SMA
I was looking at the cci ema and the adaptive cci. comparing the "old" version with the optimized version. I couldn't find any differences in plotting the values.
I overlaid both versions. panel 2 the cci ema and panel 3 the adaptive cci.
I was comparing the Zondor'ed version to the attached indicator, CCI_EMA, downloaded from futures.io (formerly BMT) a while ago. After reading your post, I examined the code for this indicator and it appears it uses the SMA, the indicator just added an extra plot of an EMA.
I did modify it and changed to EMA for CCI calculation and it reproduced your results. Just another example of trusting and blindly using an indicator without at least knowing or checking the code.
My apologies to @Silvester17 and @Zondor. I deleted my post and stand corrected.
Note to anyone that has or uses the attached CCI_EMA indicator:
It is not a CCI based on EMA, either discard, edit or be aware of it.
Thanks everyone for your interest. Better safe than sorry.
Just to be clear, has anyone found any issues with latest posted version of the Adaptive CCI? For now I am assuming it is OK, but let me know if you find any problems.
Zondor,
I replaced both my Adaptive_Alternate_CCI and my Adaptive_CCI with your updated versions of 4 days ago and now get a compiling error with the latter (see attached). Do I need to remove this one and re-install the old one or what.
Also, any chance you can make a detrended version of the Adaptive_CCI?
Thanks..
Thank you for taking this on and for improving the efficiency of the displayed indicators. I hope the posted article was useful or at least interesting. My typical use of the acci is somewhat co-linear but different enough that it holds it's place on the screen. I will try to journal more and reference my use in case anyone is interested.
I do have another simple request, one that indicates my true tech savvy acumen.
I do not know how to import a .cs file from post #15 into my NT. Can someone please explain that process for me?
Hello, very short manual:
1. download the file with .cs
2. open your document folder and try to search for ninjatrader/bin/custom/indicator
3. copy downloaded file into this folder
4. open ninjatrader
5. in ninjatrader go to tools/edit ninjascript/indicator
6. find the file in the list
7. click edit and push F5 for compile
8. if you do not see any errors than you can close it and use it
9. in case of errors you need to resolve them but this can be quite complicated (you may ask for support from ninjatrader)
