1) How long have you been using NinjaTrader? 5 months
2) What are your favorite features of NinjaTrader? SIM, Chart-trader
3) What are some must-have deal breaker features in NinjaTrader that you could not do without? Chart-trader and the sheer level of customization
4) Do you use NinjaTrader in simulation mode only, or do you place live trades with it? Live trades
5) Are you a discretionary trader or an algorithmic trader? How does NinjaTrader help you with this? Discretionary, it's easy to configure separate charts (strategic big picture and a tactical one for placing entries)
6) How easy/hard was it for you to learn to use NinjaTrader? Pretty hard, I must admit, it was not love at first sight because of the learning curve. I was used to a basic platform with a low level of customization. But would not want to go back
7) How do you rate NinjaTrader's customer service/support, assuming you have needed to use it? Really good, however some support employees focus on speed instead of quality. If you ask multiple questions my experience is they answer only the first.
8) Do you believe NinjaTrader is competitively priced? I never compared different platforms. I am following a course in The Netherlands where Ninjatrader is used and it was much to my liking. It seemed good value because of the lifetime license.
9) How do you rate the community support that exists for NinjaTrader? Really great, futures.io FTW!

i came to NJ simply because, it can connect to my broker. other than this, i don't find anything special about it. i am still trying to discover the beauties of it but up till now, i see more issues than user-friendliness...

1) How long have you been using NinjaTrader?
- Bought 1st lease in 2007, bought lifetime license in 2011

2) What are your favorite features of NinjaTrader?
- SIM, ChartTrader, Strategy Analyzer

3) What are some must-have deal breaker features in NinjaTrader that you could not do without?
- The 3 features listed above.

4) Do you use NinjaTrader in simulation mode only, or do you place live trades with it?
- Both

5) Are you a discretionary trader or an algorithmic trader? How does NinjaTrader help you with this?
- Algo only

6) How easy/hard was it for you to learn to use NinjaTrader?
- Very easy

7) How do you rate NinjaTrader's customer service/support, assuming you have needed to use it?
- 7.5/10. The few times I have used it, the responsiveness was OK but the answers were very basic. All times I figured out the problem and solutions on my own before support could make proper/correct recommendations.

8) Do you believe NinjaTrader is competitively priced?
- I believe so. To include support and all upgrades in the flat, one-time license fee is a good deal.

9) How do you rate the community support that exists for NinjaTrader?
- 6/10 - Seems like this site and the NJ community board are the only good resources around.

I just can't escape the fact that NT8 is just as unstable as NT8 even with enhanced multi threading. It still crashes with two charts running and 2 indicators. Funny that I never hear of Multicharts or Tradestation crashing consistently. I guess that is why NT has been working on this upgrade for over 2 years. Just can't get it stable. So frustrating!!

Huh....

I let NT8 and NT7 run 24/7 and some weeks I shut down for the weekend. I restart all machines once a week. Been doing it like this both connected to IQFeed for months now. Last week just for "fun" I restarted my trade machine one weekday evening.

I don't do anything on trade machine but run NT8, NT7 and TWS. No internet , email, Twitter or similar stuff. I do take screen shots and videos with Snagit and also videos with Camtasia and of course Excel for market stats, probability hunting. But as far as anything non-trading related I do that on my other 3 machines at my desk. Trade machine is a liquid cooled i7-5930K @4.3GHz RAID0 1TB 32GB DDR4 RAM. My post regarding my trade machine. I run many charts (currently 21 some with multiple data series which is actually like another chart this is counting both NT7 & 8) all with 3rd party software handling a great amount of data as I specialize in Volume Profile. I will have more charts running once we get back from vacation and kids return to school and I trade again. Currently working on house and business plan refinements.

I have Comcast business Internet to the house and everything in my office runs on a UPS using APC equipment, 4 of them 6 12v batteries total.

I would say to you it is not Ninja it's your machine, Internet combination your setup your lack of understanding how to keep things running smoothly.

You have to have a plan to address the health of Ninja.

I find NT8 to be a great improvement over NT7

NinjaTrader for me is the poison I've picked, I'm not in love with it.
