Yeah, maybe, but looks like some WPF "independant device" rendering to me ...

Or maybe @gomi is running NT8 already? Wouldn't surprise me

Nah, but already installed W8 on a laptop, and not sure I'm going to be a fan of all those 8 versions.

Hope you guys will improve on font rendering, because for now I see the dreaded WPF blurry fonts problem.
see
WPF and Text Blurriness, now with complete Clarity - Scott Hanselman

I know the font rendering was fixed in 4.0 framework, but it doesn't seem you're using it ?

See NT7 vs NT8

I know the screen captures are on an alpha project, but just wanted to be sure we'll not be using some blurry Ninja for the rest of our lives

The fix is internal .NET and we are on .NET 4.5. On my PC, all looks great. That being said, I quote a reference from the article you posted below."

"With this fixed, WPF is not technically pixel perfect with GDI text rendering, but the difference is indiscernible to the naked eye."

No the fix is not internal.

The article states that IF you want to emulate GDI hinted rendering of fonts, THEN you can do it in WPF if you set the parameters correctly.

Before WPF 4.0, you were stuck with blurry fonts.

Here's an example....

On my PC, all looks great.

Well we have our definitions of greatness, if your "Strategies" tab looks like the one I posted, then no, to me it is not great, it is blurry.

Sorry, font rendering is one of my geeky passions. ;-)

Just keep in mind you were viewing it thru a lossy Webinar encoding, not the original screen.

Yeah yeah, I'm keeping, I'm keeping ! But will look at real screen capture with great detail when they're available.

I have a thing with blurry fonts, don't know why... Guess a problem in childhood...
I hate Cleartype and its colored artefacts
I hate Segoe UI, Calibri, Cambria and their blurry edges
I hate blurry Silverlight/WPF apps...

so I'll keep an acute eye ;-)

We have done everything to optimize rending of fonts as per your prior post. For sure, some fonts such as Segoe UI (you mentioned) has some artifacts (like on "C" and "O") in WPF even using all tips/tricks. We currently use Arial for NT8 as it seems to work the best in WPF.

Now I know what NOT to get you for Christmas

But I already got your Christmas gift this year, you emailed me the fine assortment of spirits it helped to procure a couple weeks ago, lol

And you already got me my Christmas gift too, it's here:
