So when is beta being released? I skimmed though the webinar, too busy to watch the whole thing.

How long did NT7 take from beta to final release?

Mike I am watching the webinar now, but just to maybe steal a quick answer out of you rather then waiting to find it in the video ( I am watching it either way) Did Ray mention how compatibility will be using NT7 indicators on NT8?

Also is there any reason NT7 wont be able to be used rather then upgrading if a user chooses to? I remember nt7 being a mandatory upgrade since 6.5 was not compatible with a a newer zen fire api or something last year.

Well I found my answer at the 14 minute mark. Indicators will need to be tweaked most likely and NT7 will be supported for "years to come" :-)

I am excited for NT8, but good to know NT7 will still be able to be used if a user chooses.

There will be some code breaks, but... NT8 is not going to do "less" than NT7 does. If you can do it in version 7, you will very likely be able to do it quicker, faster, better in version 8. Further, NT7 will be supported going forward as well. Good luck.

The code breaks from NT7 -> NT8 will be minimal for basic Indicators, but some of the fancy "Plot Over-ride" approach may experience more issues due to the change in charting technology. The "Initialize()" method has been changed to a different method (more inclusive) so likely all Indicators will require some small tweak. Not sure if they will release a migration tool to make the simple tweaks.

Did he talk about native profiling capabilities with NT8 similar to what is available in Sierra, I/RT, MD, MC?

I sent the following message to NT Support.

Quoting
Prior to the Webinar one of the postings on futures.io (formerly BMT) raised this point:

If using multiple data providers, if NT looks for the symbol with the first opened provider and does not find it, it is supposed to look at the next connected provider. That is how it is supposed to work, but it simply does not. (-@sylvestro)

This is extremely frustrating behavior, but from Ray's remarks. it did not sound like anything would be done about it.

As I mentioned in a previous message to you, an easy way to make this functionality accessible to users would be the option to add a special keyword such as the word "SKIP" as a symbol mapping, telling the datafeed to NOT attempt to load that instrument and to pass the request for that instrument's data on to the next data feed to which Ninja is connected.

I hope that this issue can be addressed.

In the webinar Ray said not 2012 and not 2014, so its a safe bet next year sometime in 2013. He did not specify any more then that.

The cci example is certainly a step in the right direction. So this is good news for users.

The way the system indicators are coded now is... not good.

But the cci is still running a loop on every tick that only needs to run once per bar. That's OK, I know how to fix it.

I am very disappointed that you won't be able to specify data provider per instrument, but only by type of instrument.

If they would let you specify data provider by EXCHANGE, that would be good.

No word on whether FormatPriceMarker will be able to control multiple plots of one indicator. This is one I am very interested in and asked for quite some time ago.

@Zondor, How do you fix the CCI?

I think he is referring to the FirstTickOfBar condition?

The changes they made to the CCI in the example were a step in the right direction. But I think you can go further.

Here is an example:
