I noticed this morning that NT7 has a delay of about 10 seconds between when the bar timer reads 00:00:00 and when the new bar draws. Does anyone know what might cause that and if there is a fix?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on futures io?
I have been watching 5 min and 15 min charts and on the countdown to 00:00:00 there is 100% a 5-10 second delay before the next bar is printed. It’s Very strange, i was watching my DOM price move then the new bar print
God knows why, but I’m sure there is some genius somewhere on here that will inform us

if it is just a visual thing, while that still sucks, I could get over it. But there are times where orders are not laid out and the 10 second data gap IS trading blind during that time.
I get this most mornings, i have to disconnect and re-connect and everything is fine
A bit annoying though!
Im with AMP Futures using there CQG feed, don’t know if that would make a difference
I have also tried to do a fresh install of ninja...Twice to fix the issue but didnt work
I really should contact Ninja but i just been riding the issue out as its annoying but not life threating:-D

So not too much of an issue for me as i only use the 5 -15 min to look for buying and selling pressure from the candlestick wicks and market structure
It would be nice to get this problem rectified though 100000%
Now it has caught my eye its going to bug the crap out of me i suppose

does not give me any issues of which I am aware. I do not use DOM, but the inside market as displayed on chart trader does NOT update during that "delay". Note that the delay does not happen all the time...but when I'm staring at it and it does occur confidence in the platforms are undermined. DB
I forgot about that clock sync issue as well. I will try to sync my computer clocks as well. That would explain why it happens sometimes and not at other times? Thanks for the response. DB
Re-reading this post, here is what I think might be happening.
- BarTimer works of PC clock
- Will count down on real-time
- A new bar will only print as a new tick comes in within the boundaries of the time period
- For example, if you have 5 min bars and the PC clock now shows 9:00 AM, the bar timer would show complete
- It is expected that a new bar will only form as the next tick comes in after 9 AM, which could be near immediate or seconds to minutes later depending on the market
I did sync both machines to the same source as well. However I do notice that the delay eur/usd between the 7:30 bar and the 7:33 (current) bar was 18 seconds. IMO it would be very strange for this time of day to not have a single tick or NBBO update during that time.
the 7:33 to 7:36 delay was 4 seconds...I suspect you are correct here but I wonder if this has any real impact on trading....don't think so. DB
After suffering for months of having my trade markers be 1-2 bars off, I finally found the cause (thanks to Ninjatrader support who analyzed my log files).
My PC clock runs slow. Very slow.
Windows vista will update the clock once a day, that's …
The following user says Thank You to Silvester17 for this post:
(1) There was no incoming tick during the 10 seconds. NinjaTrader is event driven and will only start plotting a new bar when the first tick of that bar is registered.
(2) You use a data feed that comes with time stamps, and your system clock is off by 10 seconds.
(3) You use a data feed that comes with time stamps, and the timestamps are off by 10 seconds.
Case(2) implies that your system clock is 10 seconds early. Case (3) implies that the time stamping of the bars is 10 seconds off. Case (3) would be pretty unusual.

Your PC clock is out of sync. Windows Time Service is only designed to be accurate to within a few seconds. It is not an NTP service. You should download Dimension4, which is a true NTP service. Depending on your clock drift, you can sync daily, hourly, etc to be sure your PC is in sync.
