I did sync both machines to the same source as well. However I do notice that the delay eur/usd between the 7:30 bar and the 7:33 (current) bar was 18 seconds. IMO it would be very strange for this time of day to not have a single tick or NBBO update during that time.

the 7:33 to 7:36 delay was 4 seconds...I suspect you are correct here but I wonder if this has any real impact on trading....don't think so. DB

sure looks like a pc clock problem.

no delay here, using:

Download NTP - Software

there're other solutions. here's a thread about pc clock sync.

I noticed this morning that NT7 has a delay of about 10 seconds between when the bar timer reads 00:00:00 and when the new bar draws. Does anyone know what might cause that and if there is a fix?

@wldman:

Possible reasons include:

(1) There was no incoming tick during the 10 seconds. NinjaTrader is event driven and will only start plotting a new bar when the first tick of that bar is registered.

(2) You use a data feed that comes with time stamps, and your system clock is off by 10 seconds.

(3) You use a data feed that comes with time stamps, and the timestamps are off by 10 seconds.

Case(2) implies that your system clock is 10 seconds early. Case (3) implies that the time stamping of the bars is 10 seconds off. Case (3) would be pretty unusual.

Your PC clock is out of sync. Windows Time Service is only designed to be accurate to within a few seconds. It is not an NTP service. You should download Dimension4, which is a true NTP service. Depending on your clock drift, you can sync daily, hourly, etc to be sure your PC is in sync.

Windows time service is only accurate to within a handful of seconds. This is by design, and there is no getting around it. It does not matter how close or accurate your source clock is, Windows time is not designed to be accurate within milliseconds.

If you want real accuracy, you need a true NTP service. I use Meinberg NTP personally, but there are many to choose from.

Laziness. Dimension4 is a one-click easy install, whereas Meinberg requires some hoops to jump through.
