Welcome, Guest!

This forum was established to help traders (especially futures traders) by openly sharing indicators, strategies, methods, trading journals and discussing the psychology of trading.

We are fundamentally different than most other trading forums:
  • We work extremely hard to keep things positive on our forums.
  • We do not tolerate rude behavior, trolling, or vendor advertising in posts.
  • We firmly believe in openness and encourage sharing. The holy grail is within you, it is not something tangible you can download.
  • We expect our members to participate and become a part of the community. Help yourself by helping others.

You'll need to register in order to view the content of the threads and start contributing to our community. It's free and simple, and we will never resell your private information.

Hi Guys.

I don’t post in forums often mainly because I’m more of a reader than a poster I guess.

I’d like to share my recently completed project.

In Short: I spent last 3 months combining two ninjatrader partner products to produce a system that will allow non programmers design and trade automated systems with manual trade control and unlimited options in trading strategy logic, complex entries, exits, risk filters and trailing stops.

Some background:
I’ve been involved in trading for just about 8 years now.
In last 2-3 years I got into futures and found that it was more my style than options, where I spent the previous 3-4 years.

With both instruments I was consistently successful on sim, and just as consistently took a beating in real trading. Emotions got the best of me every time. I knew the right thing to do, just didn’t do it in live trading.

I decided to automate my entries and exits.

I needed an easy way to program my strategy which was based on 2 indicators, and still be able to make modifications, test different indicators for trend filtering and momentum, etc

Also, I needed something to execute entries and exits per defined parameter for each.
I also wanted to have live, manual control of stops targets (probably a horrible idea), similar to chart trader, only in a strategy.

After quite a bit of searching I found Micro-Trends Framework.
It’s a collection of a bunch of indicators (most of which are pretty nice, but I still had no interest). The trade manager called Easy Trader was my main focus. It had money management, risk management, etc

If I could make it execute from MY parameters, from MY indicators, and add stops/trailing stops, would enforce the rule following. (I later learned it has trend filtering, divergence filtering and a million other criteria for entries, exits, session times, performance limits, etc)

I didn’t want to have to hire a coder every time I wanted to modify my strategy.
Almost like stars aligned, as I found a 1 day old post in NT forums about a new company SharkIndicators.

Their product Bloodhound will “watch” almost any indicator (or multiple indicators) for change in direction, change in slope, crossover, higher/lower highs/lows, I mean if there is quantifiable output, bloodhound will capture it and process it per defined logic.

Example of logic can be : Signal when:MA20 crossed MA10 5 bars ago AND Fisher Transform is rising, OR something, something, etc… It will also calculate ratio; if 8 out of 10 indicators are in alignment. Will even measure degree of slope...

I decided if I can only “marry” the two products, I’ll have a permanent method to quickly define any logic I want, using any indicator or any number of indicators at once, build conditions, add signals from other timeframes, etc using SharkIndicators Bloodhound

Add sophisticated trade entry (candle based, MA based, time, day, divergence, HTF) filters, ability to define “set up” and “trade” as separate configs, AND separate exit rules, complex trailing stops and targets (ATR, previous swing, previous candle, virtual targets, fib, MA, Bollinger, etc)

I spent last 3 months communicating with developers at both companies. I was NOT compensated, nor was I given anything free. Just free development support to make integration possible.

Hours of testing, remote connections, patching and troubleshooting, result is a successful integration.

I want to share this as I know there are plenty of traders out there who are not programmers, who would love an “out of the box” method to easily define their trading logic, have the system submit the trade, while giving the user chart trader style controls over the trade, and manage exits, trailing stops, risk parameters, and money management.
This is not a commercially available product, but it could be purchased separately from the vendors.

My message is; the integration is done, no development costs for you.
Micro-trends has a working indicator that will execute BloodHound produced signals.

Below is the screenshot of my set up and both products in action.

Both products have a free trial:
MicroTrends unlimited time with sim, pay when you need live trading
SharkIndicators Bloodhound has non-time limited trial, ALSO: Price is $495 now, but going up to $895 starting 10/15/2012

Attn mods: BigMike has granted me permission to post this, as I am not affiliated with either vendor.

I would like to install the same thing. Was just looking for some help on how this easy trader would work with bloodhound? Bloodhound it seems triggers order and you have to specify and ATM strategy for it to use for the order? If so, how do i use this with Easy Trader? Any links or help would be ideal
