Phantom trades in NT?

Phantom trades in NT?

I had a short order in place last night with stop. Stop hit right at 1 am. Another short trade executes at 4:00 am Unless I am trading in my sleep WTF happened? Wake up an I am short with no stop down 80 ticks?!!!! I had no strategies open. This makes me really nervous about NT. Can someone tell me what to look for? My mistake? NT problem?! Please help!!

You should read your log and trace files, that will tell you what happened.

They told me you must have "All orders came from your user Number therefore we can't help." I am really mad now!
The same order number was different looks like it got executed on a stop order. This is BS. Anyone had "phantom order" problem with AMP or NT?
Anyone have similar experience with NT or AMP? FYI: If you ever have a problem with order DON'T even THINK that you are going to get any help from the order desk.

I repeat that you need to read the log files and trace files.

You will not know what happened, if you do not analyze your executions, but just stand up and cry!

The order desk cannot help you, if you executed through NinjaTrader, as they do not have your NinjaTrader install on their servers.

It is up to you to find out.

I have the log files. They show order numbers.How do I get the trace files?

Will I have trace files if a strategy was not running? I have done a search in NT and BM

You will find the log files under My Documents -> NinjaTrader 7 -> log and the trace files under My Documents -> NinjaTrader 7 -> trace.

Both log and trace file should list all orders, irrespectively whether you have used a strategy or not. They would therefore allow you to understand at what time the order that was executed during the night had been submitted.


This is how I would proceed:

(1) Connect to your account, then go to NinjaTrader Control Center -> Account Performance and select the appropriate period during which the problem occurred. Select executions tab and have a look at the executions. You will learn at what time your trades were executed. Write down the order numbers.

(2) Go to the logfile and search for the order numbers. This should help to find out, when the order had actually been submitted. The logfile is easier to read than the trace file.

(3) If you cannot understand what happened by analyzing the log file, open the trace file and have a look at the details.

(4) Enjoy.

I don't see how it was my mistake but I would almost rather it was something I did. If it was a problem with NT then I don't know how I could fix it.

You should really take the habit of reading the logfile yourself, all information is there.
