Hello,
I am trying run a back test on a system that I have written. It plots the buy and sell signals appropriately when the strategy is applied to a blank chart but when I attempt to run a backtest in strategy analyzer it just says "backtest in process..." and it will not complete.
I don't see the status bar or any indication that anything is happening. I am connected to IB and don't have any issues loading any other charts.
Does anyone have any idea what is wrong?
Thanks in advance.

The status bar is located on the bottom of the main control panel right hand side. Yes, i know this makes no sense. If your loading data which has not been previously loaded it may take a long time to download depending on your date range. There will be a status showing the data is loading.
Thank you - I think I see on the Control Center page where the status bar would be (abort button on the right hand side - bottom of the page?) However, when I start a backtest nothing happens, no sign of anything going on.
I do have strategies running live - maybe that is interfering? It's really odd. I have had backtests work fine in the past. Could it be because my strategy is coded incorrectly? But if that's the case its strange that it plots the signals on a blank chart.
Something else; You should consider having a second machine to do your testing on. I have had strange things happen to my live strategies while running backtests and optmizations at the same time as my live strategies.
Ditto that. Anything running live strategies on live money should be as dedicated as possible to that and nothing else. You don't want to increase the chances of something screwing up while it's in a position.
