i think im doing something wrong here with NT $TICK chart with AMP/CQG data feed.. its not showing any +1000/-1000 hits, but on TOS it does.. here is my chart on NT and settings..
this might sound dumb, but the $TICK only works during mkt hours right? lol its been sooo long since ive looked at a $TICK chart..
here is my TOS chart showing a $TICK hit of +1000:
dont believe anything you hear and only half of what you see
NYSE Tick data is snapshot data, and not all data suppliers use the same interval for updating it. 1sec, 2 sec or 6 sec snapshots will get you different highs and lows.
There is a thread somewhere buried in this forum, where all this is explained and where the different data feeds were compared. I admit that I am unable to find that thread.

Very much agree on the value of Tick with the ES - it is a superb tool.
One thing I've seen overlooked is the frequency of the TICK updates.
Given that TICK is based on the price changes in the particular universe (approx 3200 for nyse), no data …

I have noticed the same thing. One of the reasons why I switched to CGQ with AMP was because of the availability to get the TICK. Have you contacted the broker. It makes no sense that it does not update live.

are you talking about this one in the picture? i have the DJ and regular $TICK, i really want the ES $TICK to be honest. they charge you extra for that?

Assuming you have authorized your broker to charge you the monthly fee for receiving index data then I suggest contacting our support team to get you squared away.

IQ feed does not have a +- 1000 tick either today, I have same as yours , I remember hearing something about why TOS and I think trade station if I remember correctly show higher ticks but I don't remember what the reason was ....
If I had to guess , I wonder if certain feeds calculate tick themselves

As I said, it is snapshot data. If you have 1-sec snapshots, the 1 min bar of the NYSE Tick is built from 60 data points. If you have 5-sec snapshots, then the bar is built from 12 data points. It is quite likely that high and low from the 1-sec snapshot data was among the 48 data points and not the other twelve, which can be also found on the 5-sec snapshot data. In that case the 5-sec snapshot data will come out with a lower high and higher low.
Update intervals for NYSE Tick
DTN/IQ: 1 sec (in 2011/2012)
TradeStation: 1 sec (in 2011) Interactive Brokers: 2 sec
eSignal: 6 sec (source dates back to 2008) CQG: longer interval
NYSE Tick original: 6 sec
To get the exact information, you would need to contact the data vendor.

The only think i pay extra for is my static super DOM (bloody $0.25) per round turn "the cheek"!!!!!!
Never used to charge a few years ago, i was on Zenfire though
My ^TICK data seems to work fine

here is a weird tip to get real time NYSE tick data you subscribe to DJ indie
dont believe anything you hear and only half of what you see
a) tell amp you want to activate live feed exmp:
please enable my CQG id xxxxx to receive real time market statistic data
b) just to be sure; tools>options>data>reset instruments (warning: loss of sim trade records)
The following user says Thank You to cory for this post:
on b, do you mean 'just to be sure' as in do it before i contact amp? also i prolly wont contact them if its going to cost extra. i was just playing around with it and noticed something was up. i have a TOS account too so i might use that if i decide i really need it.
do b) because back then when amp started offer market stat feed the symbols were not properly sync. They told me how to sync them up. If you install NJ recently then it won't be a problem. Yes it costs $5/month.
The following user says Thank You to cory for this post:
I think it is worth reconsidering this decision. Try it for a couple of months to see if it benefits you. $5 is not much. If you know what to look for I think the NYSE tick is one of the best leading indicator for futures.
Cheers

I see this thread is extremely old, but thought I would revive it as I continue to notice similar situations. I chat with a couple traders who use tradestation and the variance between them and Ninja/CQG makes interpreting the TICK pretty difficult. It is not a flat number difference, so I may read -200 where they have +50. Other times it matches, other times it is more.
I read earlier in the thread that this is based on update intervals which each data feed can do as they please, there is no standard. Does anyone here using CQG use TICK as a reliable "read" on market conditions, tradestation folks use the 0 point often to determine strength or weakness if pullback are unable to get past the 0 mark. However if I use that same logic and mine goes to -200 I would not see it the same way. This is one of the frustrating things about non standardized data.
Is it not a case where you can modify the intervals to match the readings you get from other platforms?
I am interested in testing tick values on CQG across not only NYSE but also on ags and sorts products and then also other indices.
Does anyone have any experience on that? Or using tick indicators on say sugar, cocoa, corn etc
I use CQG and a proprietary system.
