Agreed... a lot of issues trace back to custom indicators ... we went through this with nt7 so I fully expect nt8 to become more stable as nt7 did. I am running both for now and plan to phase over to 100% nt8 as functionality stabilizes over time.

I hope you communicate the issues you identify to NinjaTrader with the log file enabling them to fix the issues. This is what I do. Otherwise the application will not improve.

I recognize this takes time but it is a small sacrafice that results in a big off for you and everyone.

Did they implement a built in function to send logs to support along with a description of the problem, directly in the app?

I have been getting familiar with Ninja 8. It is extremely slow and the tick replay doesn't work well at all. Also, I get weird errors like clicking on a chart and getting some internal error message. There is no way I will trade Ninja 8 live.

Interesting. I am truly surprised how many people have nothing but negative comments about version 8. I have been using version 8 for a month and have no significant issues, version 7 for years. A few small things that are no more than minor frustrations. I trade everyday professionally to earn my living and have done so for over 15 years now. I think it lacks understanding of software if you expect flawless execution. Every application developed since we began using computers has had flaws. Regardless of whether it is Microsoft, Google, IBM or anyone else doing the development. Flaws are inherent to computer systems. I started on a Bloomberg terminal and have used Rueters and many other systems so I have a extensive pool of experience from which to form an opinion.

For an application to evolve it requires the support and usage of a user community. If you are unable to support an organization then do not expect the organization to support you.

For $1000 NinjaTrader is an exceptional piece of software. They do an outstanding job creating and maintaining a fantastic tool that is extensible to trade the markets.

If you are using the free version then you have no standing being critical of Ninja. You are just trying to get something for nothing and when you don't get what you want you rail against the company.

I'm using a paid version of NT and my opinion is based on the fact that I had to restart it hundreds of times due to charts not being generated. I contacted support and after sending them all the logs (several times) they advised me to switch to NT8, but they couldn't provide support because it was beta...
Also, I've paid strategies not compatible with NT8. My overall opinion is that NT doesn't meet the standards of a financial application.

How are your strategies not compatible with NT8?

"Free markets work because they allow people to be lucky, thanks to aggressive trial and error, not by giving rewards or incentives for skill. The strategy is, then, to tinker as much as possible and try to collect as many Black Swan opportunities as you can"

Whatever issues you may be having with NinjaTrader 7 I would be surprised that our customer service team would not be able to service you. Please provide me with the NinjaTrader support ticket #(s) and I will promptly have my team follow up.

Because they are only compatible with NT7 until the developer decides to update them (BWT Autotrader).

I have been using NT8 for a week now and have only one issue. I only use 30 min and daily charts and only have 1 EMA in each chart. 21 charts in total.
The issue is that loading data from IB is significantly longer than NT7 (same workspace). But all I have to do is start a few minutes earlier.
I am using the free version, just for charting. This is a great charting program!
