Does someone has an update for the (probable) release date for NinjaTrader 8?

Yes it is glacial but the main gripe I have with NT x is the lack of a clear API for creating connectors to brokers they don't officially support ( especially since the ones they do support are not the ones I want to use ). Other than that, I love it.

Good news, but is this a confirmed release date (source?) or something you heard someone else say somewhere?

They've never announced a release date and they've never made any promises.

Ray has actually stated the exact opposite. He doesn't want to have fixed release dates because he doesn't want to disappoint anyone by missing the date or releasing an unfinished product.

In one of the first webinars on Ninja 8, when asked about a release date, I heard something to the effect of: certainly within 2013.

As a trader and a software engineer, if they can't give us a release date, then they have no concept of the scope of what needs to be done.

I am investigating platforms, I think I have been swayed to SC.

So saying you don't want to disappoint or release something unfinished is open ended! Not having fixed release dates is a cop out. I release every 3rd Thursday to clients and provide an incremental fix. If it is major it may take 2 months, etc. the. Point is that customers see value for support dollars.

If this is a ground up rewrite, I will bet money that there are undocumented business rules that will not be implemented.

Also, if you are waiting for a 2013 release, I wish you luck.

I definitely appreciate how the development cycle works from working within it for many years, and would much rather the team hold back until the product has been adequately tested and is functional. Trust me that is much preferable than something that is unstable and buggy requiring frequent patches. Especially when your livelihood is on the line (re: both the vendor and the customers in this case).

However that said, it would be nice to see a high level rollout timetable of the year we're anticipating. That in itself doesn't set precise/high pressure expectations. I say this because we've already been told that integrations will not be backwards compatible without further development, for this reason many serious users will benefit greatly in their business planning.

Something to consider.

Thanks,

Sands.
