1) How many days or hours you can run ninja trade without restart.
2) How many days or hours you can run ninja trader with strategy without restart.
3) any exprience running ninja trader and strategy in VPS longer periods.
Big Mike you have running strategy competion, how you do it, do you have VPS and running those strategies
Do you have to restrated those often.
6 weeks in a row on one of my VPS, for the batttle of the bots (NT up 24/7, 5 to 12 bots running, multiple data feed).
This is my own VPS infrastucture, where I have a dozen of futures.io (formerly BMT) members using it, and I saw some VPS have not rebooted for nearly 6 months, but I don't know if they have restarted NT itself.

In general, 1GB memory is outside of the norm for a single strategy. You would need to dive into your strategy line by line to see what is consuming resources.
Are you experiencing this while using Market Replay?
I (and others) have seen NT memory usage increase more than you would expect (or prefer) when running Market Replay for multiple days. Last I read this is expected or normal behavior though very unfortunate. For me this is the only consistent "bug" (or design flaw) I've experienced with NT.
I'm not sure if this has been fixed in the latest version. I expect I'll find out soon.
This is not expected behavior when not using Market Replay so you may check your strategy as suggested.

I have a strategy running on Sams VPS and in the beginning I would restart NT once a month along with the VPS just for general maintenance.. Now I restart NT weekly. Reason being, I have had some re-connection issues on Sunday night before the market opens with my broker and Kinetick.
At home I have various test strategies running on one machine and market replay on another. The one running various test strategies has run for about 3 months without restarting NT. It should be noted that I did not have strategies running 24/7 for the full 3 months.
The market replay is more like once a week because it always crashes.

Just confirmed no memory bugs for me with the latest version of NT and Windows 7. I ran three separate weeks for ES 03-12 using Market Replay with one strategy under Control Center and one chart with several stock indicators.
The NinjaTrader.exe process never used more than 86MB.

I usually start NT on Monday Sydney session open and shutdown on Friday NY close. 5 Charts, one FxPro, one market analyser with around 12 instruments. I only use indicators that I have written myself although anaBarTimers is on all the charts. Memory usage hovers around ~100mb. I don't run strategies.
So to sum up, no issues with NT at all. Never crashed.

I am finding your words of wisdom more than 2 years after.
I am dealing with this 24/7 issue.
I am using NT with IB and running into crashes and lots of errors and wrong data from NT when IB shuts down and starts back up (every day) or IB updates its servers (1 hour every day).
NT seems not be able to handle this and the amount of errors/crashes/wrong data that result from this are even to much to mention here.
I want to use IB for my automatic 24/7 strategies . How did you manage to do this, reliable?
Are you using the ib-gateway or do you have other methods so you can trust your strategy is running safely without having to check every day for possible errors/ crashes etc?
You don't give enough details about "I am using NT with IB and running into crashes and lots of errors and wrong data from NT when IB", I can't answer.
I do not use IB on 24/7 basis anywmore but I have a bunch of clients doing it without major problems.
Most of them are using IB Gateway using my very old trick: .

after following your video instructions and some work i am able to connect to ib gateway. I did not have to use the demo account as mentioned in your video. I first have to log into ib gateway via ib before connecting to ib gateway via NT. I guess there is no way around this.?
question:
While connected to the IB-gateway will the connection still go on and off while ib is updating its servers between 9-10 pm PT?
I am still having the same data problem as before:
While connecting to a chart after NT is connected to IB the latest bar has no historical data, in other words it will start as a dojo and build up from there.
attached image will show this (first image is NT second image is TWS)
