Not sure if this is the best place to post this tip, but having run into the usual issue (NT won't connect) after upgrading to IB TWS Build 920.5, Nov 7, 2011 2:45:17 PM this evening, this time the (typically arcane) solution turned out to be one first proposed by mokuku on the NT Support forum on 08-31-2010 in another context:


Quoting 
Open TWS. In menu bar click <Configure> and proceed as outlined below:
<Global Configuration>
<Configuration/Display/Settings>
On the right panel in "Titlebar text" there is a edit box. Enter following into it:
"Interactive Brokers Trader Workstation"
<Configuration/Display/Style>
Check the setting: Use system title bar (Change requires a restart).

NinjaTrader only supports IB TWS standalone v917.

I suspect they won't support the latest version or the gateway til the next major release.

Check your NinjaTrader license (Help -> About).
If you don't see InteractiveBrokers in the the "Licensed providers", then that's why.

Do you think these 2 versions posted (NT & IB-TWS) are possible stable production-Setups for futures ?
In fact of crapy IB-Data - I know...

But I need only 5min & longer timeframes !?

If you didn't purchase the right license, NT support will send your support ticket to Ninja sales team .
Yes, TWS & NT run fine together. TWS 938.1 is the recommended one, but some higher version of TWS seems to work too.

I have the adventure Zenfire-Bigtick & Mirus finally behind me and wanted to give NT still a chance. NTsupportTeam has converted my key and the last NT version works with TWS 938.1 well together. If someone has tested a newer TWS & NT7 combination reliably, please post here.

This setup also works with an IB paper trading account, but I think that the Future-order costs are better in TradeStation. should have someone present experiences, please post them here.
