MAJOR ISSUES CONNECTING TO INTERACTIVE BROKERS

I successfully configured IB's TWS according to the ninjatrader account connection setup page. I followed it to the letter.

I successfully configured the account setup through NinjaTrader. No problems there.

Upon connection to IB through NinjaTrader however the problems start. I'm going to walk it through right now step by step.

1. log into NT7 - simulated trades
(at this point i am not connected to anything)
2. Connect to Interactive Brokers
PROBLEM #1 - LOGIN FAILED: INVALID USER OR PASSWORD OR SYSTEM NOT AVAILABLE
3. Click OK
4. Connect to Interactive Brokers AGAIN!
5. TWS decides to start. It is now asking me for the stupid additional codes from the silly code sheet i had to print
6. PROBLEM #2 - While i'm typing #5 several seconds later it decides to start that process again (I think NT is doing this)
7. The Web page I am now typing in has suddenly gone back to the big mike's home page automatically without my prompting it while I am typing!!
8. I return to this thread posting and notice that my username that is supposed to automatically go into the TWS login screen is now in this text box where i am now writing.
9 I remove it and notice that NT has notified me that: LOGIN FAILED: TIMEOUT ON WAITING FOR TWS
10. Start AGAIN! This time a little faster.
11. Entered the code - TSW starts and it's main window pops up. PROBLEM #3 - NT is unchanged, no data is streaming to NT
12. PROBLEM #4 - TSW closes and restarts...prompting me for the silly codes again.
13. I enter the codes. TWS pops up again. - no data streaming to NT
This process goes over and over and over and over again endlessly!

What am I doing wrong?!!

Step 1 - Log in to TWS
Step 2 - Go to Ninja, Connect to IB

I logged into TWS - it's automatic once you connect to BI

I've already done this. The problems is that it continues to log out and then back into TWS (IB) over and over again and at no point actually streams data. There is a much bigger problem here than simply going to Ninja and connecting to IB

Now to be honest...i've already tried having the TWS window open - what happens is...NT tries to open it again...and requires you to login again in order to disconnect the other instance of TWS. This continues over and over and over again...until the earth is swallowed up by the sun

Just for the hell of it I will post what happens when I follow DionysusToasts suggestion:

1. TWS up and running
2. Open NT7 - in simulation mode
3 Connecting to IB (with TWS already open)
4. enter all silly codes
5. window pops up - [Another session with the same user name already exists click OK to login and disconnect the other session, click cancel to terminate the session]
6. Click cancel
7. No data streaming to NT - NT attempts to connect again and the whole cycle starts again forever and ever amen

grrrrr

Why does connecting to a broker have to be madness?!

honestly Dionysus, I appreciate the screen shots...but i've done all that to the letter according to the NT website help page for connecting to IB

Is it because i'm connecting in simulation mode?? maybe that's the problem?

FYI - there is a change as of today.

Yesterday, you could have run TWS from the 'previous version' page on IBs website. Today you can't because IB released a new version.

You need to have TWS installed on your machine.

The install is here:

http://www.ninjatrader.com/ninjatrader/TWS/tws40_install_917_8.exe

You'll need to remove any installs of TWS before you do this.

If that doesn't do it & you are on V7 r4 or above - then I have no clue....

918 isn't supported.

You'll have to install 917_8 with the link I gave. It'll solve the problem.
