Hi, joined a few weeks ago (still trying to find my way around the website). Just became an elite member, and have come to a small glitch. I am pretty tech minded (minus the programming side), but I can't for the life of me work out why the indicators in the elite section are not showing up in my Ninja Trader list (I have the latest version on NT7). *note* - some of the Felton Trading indicators I downloaded contain DLL's (not sure if that has caused the problem on those specific one's). Could someone guide me on what is missing (or what I'm doing wrong).
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Latest version of NT7 coupled with "paid live license key" provided by broker. Looks like process of elimination coming up. Solved the problem with the Felton Trading indicators (rebooting NT fixed that), now having problem installing Better Renko (and the brick version).......this is gonna be a loooong night.
You are saying two different things here. You are saying you have a paid live key/provided by broker.
The reason I asked, is because you say that NONE of your custom scripts are showing up, and you are using a key from your broker. So that's why I was inquiring as to the status of your key. Unless it is different for SOME brokers, what I am saying is that you CANNOT use a broker provided key, and have access to custom scripts.
This is different from 3rd party PAID indicators though. So if you purchased, or have Felton indies, you CAN use the felton scripts. But anything else, i.e. something you wrote, or something somebody else wrote, you CANNOT trade live with your free broker key, and use those custom scripts.
So to get around this, you have to purchase a key from Ninja.
Here is a quote from ninja forums where someone asked the question you did:
Notice the part I highlighted in red. You may have access depending on your broker? But I don't know, if you do not have access now, it's likely that you will have to purchase a key.
One way to check, is to put in the free SIM key you can get from ninja's site, and put that key in, INSTEAD of your key you got from your broker. Restart ninja. If your custom scripts re-appear, you know you will have to purchase a key from ninja to have access to your custom indies.
Reading my last post, I realised how it sounded. To clarify, it is a PAID license (I can trade my live account with it). Most of the FT indicators are working (except for a few which I think have compiling problems, or they aren't V7 compatible). The renko one's are installing, but not showing up in the indicator list. This latter problem is happening with a number of indicators in the elite section. Not being a programmer, I can't debug them, so not sure where to got with those.
Just to clarify, you purchased a full license key directly from NinjaTrader correct?
And did you install indicators direct through the Utilities and import?
Do you have an example of an indicator you downloaded from futures.io (formerly BMT) that you can't get to show up. A link would be useful so I can try to install it and see if I get any errors.
Correct on the license key. And correct on the import through Utilities and Import. One indicator not importing is the felton counter ( think one of FT's indicators)
Here's an update on the Felton Bar Counter which now works in NinjaTrader 7.0.4.0 and later.

I found the Renko indicator in the "data series" area (took a lot of searching for that answer phew.)
(1) Felton Indicators: They are compiled assemblies. So they will not show up on the indicator list if you edit your indicators. However they will show up on the drop down menu of the indicator dialogue box. Some of the Felton DLLs work with NinjaTrader 7.0.1000.2 and earlier and will not work with later versions. Other of the Felton DLLs work with NInjaTrader 7.0.1000.4 and later, but will not work with earlier versions.
(2) Better Renko is not an indicator. It is a custom bar type. You need to first install it and then shut down NinjaTrader and restart it to make it work. Being a bartype you will not find it under indicators but under Type to select instead of Minute, Day, Range etc. when you open a new chart. Better Renko can be downloaded at the link below. You should also install the ChartStyle Better Brick along with Better Renko.

Just import into NT, and restart NT. You should then have a "BetterRenko" type available in the intervals in the data series window. The brick size is specified in number of ticks.
