What does a naked swing mean? You do NOT want to Google this, hahaha.

A 'naked swing' has not been 'covered' yet.
(And that is covered, like how a blanket layers
on top of something, not like a covered call.)

That is, imagine a HH swing w/Strength=5,
we know price retreated for 5 bars after the
HH bar, but let's say it keeps going down for
another 10 bars, and then shoots back up and
within 10 bars passes (aka, closes above) the
price of that HH.

That's 25 bars that HH was the highest bar,
and then the HH price was exceeded.

For those 25 bars, the HH was 'uncovered',
so we call that a 'naked swing' -- because
until the swing is surpassed, it may be a
support/resistance level, so showing 'naked
swings' gives you insight into these possible
support/resistance levels.

Once the swing is 'taken out' by price exceeding
the swing, that swing is no longer 'naked', it's
been covered.

Some people call the various swing highs/lows
'pivots' or 'turn bars'. A naked swing can stay
naked for a very very long time ... obviously
it only gets covered when price retraces to
that naked swing price and then 'breaks
through' that price.

Sometimes naked swings are called 'unbroken'
swings.

IMHO, it's really just a play on words.

Make sense?

Hi I am using PriceActionSwing for NT8 desktop version. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get any alerts for double top/bottom. I have generated .wav file and put the default sound folder together with other sound files, but there's no alert at all. Does anyone know how to get alerts to work? I even tried to use default NT8 alert system with PAS as indicator, that didn't work either.

Hey there, I was wondering if anyone who uses NT8 newest version 8.0.28.0 have been having any writelock/deadlock/freezing issues while using the Price Action Swing Pro indicator.

I've been using this for awhile with no issues, and truly enjoy the indicator, but I think it may be causing my freezing issues. As a scalper, this is a detriment to my trading sessions. I originally thought it was caused by one of my paid indicators, but after removing those indicators I'm still getting the issue. I'm getting them less frequently, but it's still occurring so at this point I'm wondering if it's this indicator as many vendors had to upgrade coding to work properly with the newest NT8 version.

Please advise.

Have you refactored the code to work with the NT8 8.0.28 version? I believe the indicator is causing freezing/deadlock/writelock issues for me. All of my other indicator providers confirmed they updated their coding so I think this is the one causing me issues

I had to refactor the code. Due to this strategies using the old PriceActionSwing versions need a manual code update or you stick with the old version, which is also fine.

The new Market Analyzer template can be found attached to this post.

There is no strategy in the original download.

The simple PriceActionSwing is removed and everything is now in PriceActionSwingPro. I put in the simple and the pro versions in earlier versions to save CPU power. But the new version is more than fast enough and therefor I removed the simple version.

I sent @Daytrader999 an updated version which has the entry arrows for ABC signals. He was so kind to upload the new PriceActionSwing version for me. It is now available.

I'm the one who did the rendering... Here's a couple suggestions:

It's not perfect. It will hang if you try to squish the charts to, say, get a big picture or wide-angle view of what happened today too much. I've tried for months to fix that and can't seem to figure it out. So don't do that, or if you must, save your workspace so if you do hang it up, you can End Task and come back quickly.

Workspaces get corrupt, especially if you import chart templates. Chart templates suck - I never use them. They get corrupted all the time. Just use indicator templates and rebuild the entire workspace from scratch if you haven't already tried that. I usually have to rebuild my workspace every six months or so... In fact, it so happens that I just rebuilt mine.

I'm on v8.0.1.6 and I'm not having any trouble at all, besides having to walk on egg shells whenever I collapse the chart to see what the daily trend is... I haven't hung mine in a while though... probably because I'm now using a 72 tick renko chart already squished and without the swing lines to see what's behind me and don't have to squish my trading chart anymore.

That's your NinjaTrader version?
Is that a typo?

How do I create a '72 tick renko' chart?

Thanks

Understood. I don't ever squish my charts. The freezing issue was happening while not even touching my charts at all. Since I scalp, I'm pretty zoomed in and only need to look at the last 2 swings before entering my trade.

I just uninstalled NT8 last night and deleted the documents folder to start over with a fresh install of 8.0.26 as I'm still unsure why the problem started happening after the upgrade to 8.0.28 considering the upgrade was for CQG/Continuum users for the newly added/upgraded SSL certificates (and didn't seem to require code updates).

If I don't have any freezes this week I may do another uninstall and fresh reinstall of 8.0.28 to see if the transfer of my old workspaces/templates is what caused the issue with 8.0.28 to begin with (since you stated workspaces/chart templates get corrupted). I'm guessing the risk of corruption likely increases when upgrading/downgrading the software without full uninstalls coupled with fresh reinstalls.

I'll report back for sure! Thank you for your insight!

Excellent, it is all in one indicator. Using it in NT8 <Version>8.0.26.1</Version>. I am trying to use it with market analyzer but I could not find the instructions for NT8. Also I see here that naked swing lines are not available yet for NT8. This is an amazing indicator. Many thanks for sharing.
