Hello
I have recently been using Ninja Sim through IB sim with ES and anything on the CME with no problem. As soon as I started trying out CL today (dec 09 contract), I had problems.
I would go short with 2 contracts with my stop 20 ticks away and my 1st profit target @ 10 ticks and second one a runner. Everything executed and fine, but when I tried to hit the CLOSE button, it just cancelled my stops and target instead of cancelling and closing the position. So I had to cancel manually---lucky it was on sim.
Plus, the entry order is NOT shown for some reason. usually it is shown on the chart and on the DOM, but just the stops and target was shown on the chart and on the DOM.
I have both zenFire and IB connected for data as Zen Fire backfills the days and IB seems to be the live data----somehow they work together.
Anyway, this of course makes me not want to trade CL live at all. Not sure if platform is corrupt or something. Right now, I am actually using the latest version of IB with a few previous versions of NT---I think it is 6.5.1000.7 or something.
Anyway, ES works fine and so does 6C---which are both at the CME. So not sure if is a NYMEX thing. Maybe I will try a few other exchanges and other things on the NYMEX and see what happens.
If anybody has had this experience and can elaborate, I would appreciate.
thanks
Spencer
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
NT have put a hack in NT7 beta to get around this problem. I have been running it successfully for a week now, trading CL. Contact NT and they should let you get hold of NT7 if you reference you want to trade Nymex stuff. Good luck.
Interesting comment.
I've been with IB for a few years and never really called on them for anything of significance. Granted they are not exactly 5 stars in CS, meaning you are pretty much going to go it alone. Did you find them not to be helpful in attaching NT? Can you elaborate on the issue posted? I'm in the midst of deciding on whether I should use NT or another platform with IB. Incidentally, my issue is I find the T&S to be aggregated and not tick for tick.
Thanks
I think if you are trading stocks then IB is probably an excellent choice.
For futures, not so much -- but it could be "acceptable" depending on your trading style (ie: say you are a swing trader and use minute charts only). So it will depend on what you are doing.
