Welcome to futures.io.

Welcome, Guest!

This forum was established to help traders (especially futures traders) by openly sharing indicators, strategies, methods, trading journals and discussing the psychology of trading.

We are fundamentally different than most other trading forums:
  • We work extremely hard to keep things positive on our forums.
  • We do not tolerate rude behavior, trolling, or vendor advertising in posts.
  • We firmly believe in openness and encourage sharing. The holy grail is within you, it is not something tangible you can download.
  • We expect our members to participate and become a part of the community. Help yourself by helping others.

You'll need to register in order to view the content of the threads and start contributing to our community. It's free and simple, and we will never resell your private information.

If you don't check this option, it's going to have to download ALL of the data from their server before the charts load. If you have more than say 10 days of historical tick data, this can take a long time depending on your internet speed.

This is not correct. NT will always save historical data loaded to your hard drive, and even one step further, it will cache bars constructed (100 tick for example) from the historical data. NT will (by default) always load the current day from the source to ensure you have complete data.

What this option does is enable writing real-time data to your hard disk. This is a good option if you are using a feed (Patsystems) that does not support historical data. If your data feed does have historical data then its likely uncessary.
