jtEconNews indicator - not updated by John Thom anymore, anyone got code?
(1) Don't install any DLLs, which are not compatible with NT 7.0.1000.4 or later. Possibly you installed a version which was protected with Remotesoft Salamander. This will shoot down the latest NinjaTrader versions.
(2) The author did set some of the external variables in the Initailize section. This section is compiled, whenever you open the indicator dialogue box. As one of those external variables had a link to FOREX factory, it also has the effect of freezing NinjaTrader, as the compiling of the indicators stops.
So you have been victim of one of the above. If you tell me which version you installed, I can tell which of the two problems you suffered from.

I just ripped the whole thing out to salvage the install. shame I absolutely loved the News addin.
I read about the config file issues but feel there must be something really simple that's preventing the original one working as the form loads and runs - just no news/info.

I was really looking for a way to use the ADDIN as I find it very screen efficient and user friendly.
But I appreciate your efforts.
It seems strange that JonThom would go to such great efforts to produce the most amazing indicator and then not do minor fixes for the latest versions? Maybe he sold the rights or something.
It would appear there is an issue with dailyfx but forexfactory still works if you alter the config file as per the post.
Note you will have to open the config file with an editable application like notepad and NOT IE7.

I'm kind of an idealist. I bought big monitors for a reason, and it wasn't to waste space unnecessarily. Also, I like seeing all the upcoming news items. The news is only a few strings long, yet wastes precious space all the way across the monitor. After using the indicator that printed to the chart, it's hard to go back!
I looked to remove the jtEconNews2a assembly under utilities, but it's not listed. However, it's still available as an indicator. What's up with that!
I downloaded your version, and imported it. It asked me if I wanted to overwrite the existing one. I was like, 'Hell YES!'
When I went to add the indicator, oddly enough, it reports it's version as '2a' just like the bad one I had.
I loaded it anyway, and I saw '(There are no pending news events for the rest of the day.)
YIPPY!!!! I haven't seen that for a loooooong time.
Now, it's after hours, and so I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but I am very encouraged. I'll check it out on the Sunday opening. If it works, I'm gonna owe you
