I'm a beginner at coding strategies and I've spent allot of time trading discretionary but I'm wanting to add some systematic trading to the mix. I have been through the entire NT7 help guide in regard to automated trading and have been through their 301 and 401 webinars. I have coded several strats in NT7 that are pretty basic and I'm wanting to code a more advanced strategy. I have the logic for my new strat already written down but it's going to involve quite a few things that currently I don't know how I'm going to handle so I'm going to have to do a fair bit of research to get it to work correctly for me.
So onto my question. I can't seem to find a comprehensive guide for automated trading on NT8 like there is for NT7. I found this https://ninjatrader.com/support/helpGuides/nt8/en-us/?code_breaking_changes.htm and a few other areas where it shows some of the methods but nothing like in the NT7 help guide. I'm wondering if I'm better to do this new indicator in NT7 and worry about conversion to NT8 later or if I'm best off just figuring out how to do it in NT 8 and just use the NT7 help guide plus the code breaking changes link I posted. Any thoughts from some more experienced programmers?

I concur. Converting your code from 7 to 8 is a pain. Just start with 8 and don't worry about 7. Everything new that I build is now in 8, unless it's something I need now to augment or help the strategies I have running in 7 now.
