Many folks like the MoGo optimizer better than PH Genetic. It certainly has more features. I personally use the PH Genetic but decided to port the MoGo to 7 as an exercise to deepen my knowledge of programming. Attached is the NT7 version. It is completely ported except for one problem: It's not correctly handling the results. The Output window shows that all generations were run, but the strategy comes back to the error that no optimization parameters were available because all results are blank.
The function that is responsible for this error is "public GeneScore Evaluate(Gene gene)". I'm busy with other things right now, but if someone were to take this where I left off, there is only this spot to fix, that I'm aware of.
Note: There isn't an "installer" with like the 6.5, just put the MoGo7.dll into the NT Custom folder like NinjaTrader.Custom.dll. It would be distributed in a NT .zip file and imported through the normal NT import dialogue.
I see this happening with the default NT7 GO as well ... is that your experience as well with the same data/parameters? It has happened each of the two times I attempted ... used different strategies on different data.
The PH GO and default GO work just fine on my setup. As I said, the mojo does run the generations but the results are not handled correctly because the handling in NT7 is somewhat different. It's a programmatic issue.
TraderDJB, could you post step by step installation instruction for MoGo into NT 7. I downloaded your zip file with MoGo and copied mogo.dll to bin/custom folder. Then I tried to import other files with NTs Import Ninja Script but it seems it doesn't work.
Please help
P.S: In your opinion which is better, PH GO or Mogo?
Has anyone here in the forum ever completed the MoGo update process TraderDJB is talking about here. Have used the old version with NT6.5 and liked the options better than the PH version. In particular the ability to set minimum number of trades for Profit Factor and Max % Probability runs.
Have tried modifying the PH version to do this - and - mostly just beating my head against the wall. Any solutions would be much appreciated. thanks in advance.
