Thank you @Fat Tails.

If I use the 4:15 end session for ES (post November 18) then the offset (in my case for Pacific Time) would be -7:45 for RTH open range at 6:30 Pacific. Correct?

Thanks.

@aligator: Correct, if you use the indicator with an ETH session template and have the session # set to "Second".

Thanks @Fat Tails again.

Seems to be OK now. In the indicator I have been using session # "Auto." But if I change to "Second" nothing changes. So I guess "Auto" is OK also.

Thanks.

"Auto" means "Third" for currency futures and FOREX. It means "Second" for all other futures.

Hi Todd, I ran into a similar prob on another indi that I was developing. I think the issue is midnight, and I am not (yet) clever enough to get around that. Is there a way that you could run the indi twice, once from your open time to 23:59 and the other from 00:01??? I have not looked at your indicator, but saw your post and thought that I would add my 2cents....

Good Luck...
Bob

I use the BTOpening Range Indicator which is a simple but great indicator.

However, when I tried to set the time start at 9am and time stop at 8:59am (the next day) it won't draw the lines.

I need this because, on 6B, for example, at 3am this morning, 6B hit a new hight but it actually matched the high from trading hours only on Tuesday. However, I couldn't see that. I've used the PriorOHLC indicator but apparently, it defaults to showing the prior day OHLC from the 24 hour period starting at midnight.

Can someone look at the attached code and tell me how to change it to allow it to draw lines from a starting point on one day to a end point on the next day?

Thanks,
Todd

Hello

I am Brand New here. I have downloaded the Opening Range indicators. Must be doing something wrong. The Opening Range times I am looking for are the first hour on Futures GC and ZB from 8:20 am EST to 9:20 am EST and on CL from 9:00 am EST to 9:30 am EST.

I have been trying to adjust for these times. NEED HELP!!! New Here, new to trading, new to Ninja.

Thank you so much

I have also tried to explain it here.

Select an appropriate session template for each indicator (reflecting ETH trading times), then apply the indicator to the chart, select session # = FIRST and use an offset that reflects the difference between the start of the trading day and the start of the regular session.

offset GC: 8:20 AM - 6:00 PM EST -> offset = 14:20 hours
offset CL: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM EST -> offset = 15:00 hours
offset ZB: 7:20 AM - 5:30 PM CT -> offset = 13:50 hours

@Fat Tails,

In the attached screenshot of the ES, I am trying to specify an opening range of 9:30AM -- 12:00 PM Eastern. I am using the CME US Futures Index ETH session template, and I believe I have configured the settings correctly, but I am expecting the range to be the same width as the yellow rectangle.

You have an option called Extend OR plots until close, which I have set to False, so I am wondering what I'm doing wrong.

Regards,

@grantwood: I do not understand your question. The opening range that is displayed is correct.

The opening range plots extend until the next session break. If you use a session template that comes with several sessions per day, the option allows you to extend the plot until the end of the day.

With a standard ETH template the plots will extend to the end of the day anyhow.
