Semi Automated strategy

Hello All,

Is is possible to run a stategy and chart trader simultaneously ? I don't think it is. The reason I ask is that I'd like to run a strategy that generates alerts to be used to enter orders via chart trader (i.e. give me the entry, and I'll manage the order).

I think I can do it with the Super DOM. At least it appears so. I'll replace all of my order entries and exits, stops etc with alerts. But I'd really like to use chart trader rather than the DOM.

Someone was working on this, but I can't remember who or where. Can try to search for it or wait until someone else more useful comes along and helps you.

Following the code example in that thread, I was able to bring up chart trader from my strategy. As the posters in that thread mentioned, the on chart order visualization does not appear, and I'm trying to figure out how to accomplish that (one suggested calling the strategy from an indicator).

Another issue is that I'd like the chart trader to disappear once the order is stopped out, closed, etc. To then re-appear when the strategy signals order entry again. From the thread above we have the following code ... the question is, how does one close the chart trader, etc from the strategy ... what are the settings, etc.

ChartControl.ChartTraderEnabled = true;
ChartControl.Controls["pnlChartTrader"].Enabled = true;
ChartControl.Controls["pnlChartTrader"].Visible = true;
ChartControl.Controls["pnlChartTrader"].Controls["ctrChartTraderControl"].Enabled = true;
ChartControl.Controls["pnlChartTrader"].Controls["ctrChartTraderControl"].Visible = true;

Thanks in advance.

Playing around with Visual Studio now, I can see a few other ChartTrader values for the Control.

ChartControl.ChartTraderVisible = true/false
ChartControl.ChartTraderSupported = true/false

I don't have time to play with them, but they might help you do what you want.

A simpler way is to just run your standard strategy from the strategy tab instead of running it from the chart, that way the strategy is not associated with any chart, so you can have ChartTrader active on whatever chart you want. If the strategy initiates a trade, the trade will appear on ChartTrader. If the strategy uses Unmanaged Orders or ATM's to open trades, then the trades opened by the strategy can also be managed manually on the chart with ChartTrader.
