I was going to post an indicator request but since I have your attention here and you are THE Authority from nexusfi.com (formerly BMT) on volume study I'll just ask about it here.

I just took an interest on tape reading and wonder if there's any indicator that could spot such instances when market orders get absorbed by resting limit orders. I think they call it iceberg.

The realstats indicator might help you:

A ninjatrader partner vendor called JigSaw Trading has enhanced time and sales and dom's that might also be good.

I never would have found the midas swing indicator had Kalalex not made that post #4 on the previous page. Thanks Kal!

I owe you way more than you do so you are very WELCOME.

Apparently I searched the net after "tape reading" and jigsaw site has one of the best products and I'm very inclined to buying
his products. But again they are all in the form of T&S,,,,not on a chart. I'll see if the values from his T&S and DOM can be called into a chart...

I bought the $30 per month subscription. Here is an example of how the MIDAS curves can be helpful.

The ZigZag MIDAS is not bad, but MIDAS Explorer gives me more control.

Disclosure: I have no connection with MIDAS Explorer other than as a customer.

I didn't like his interface, and wanted to pursue other ideas for development, so I wrote my own.

Automation is always fun, but I think Midas is too discretionary for that route to be very productive. The
'extensions' are largely ways to make it work when the basic SR curves don't fit the price action.

Unfortunately they don't come into play until you've discovered that the basic curve doesn't work, and by then it's often too late, at least for my time frames. The channels are the only extensions that I've so far found useful.

I agree that MIDAS is very subjective. There is an art to using it. It won't work with automation.

Here is a MIDAS range that I plotted today. The levels worked... this time. But they usually do.

That was a live trade, but I did not base it on the MIDAS. The trade was generated from a 100 tick chart.

The red line is the MIDAS from a previous local high.

I agree, VWAP is too hard, I am going back to EZ Trading Traffic Light systems. Or maybe the Hurley method. Or maybe a moving average system. Or maybe something with dots, and gradient colored backgrounds. VWAP is for professionals. I want to be a "looser".
