That's already how it is in Belgium.

Your employer payes you 45% of your check and sends directly 55% to the gov.

Then of that reminding 45% everything you buy in belgium you pay 21% vat tax.

And you pay 55% income tax.

But hey, everybody has healthcare and university tuition costs 450 euros / year.

Actually, I believe you are paying 65% of your gross income for healthcare and tution... that's a bit more than 450 euros a year. Dude! Don't take the blue pill!
