I am interested in hearing how the rest of you feel about Big Mike Trading.
To me, it is the best trader website available anywhere. It provides a sense of community, it offers free help and advice, it has the best library of indicators and of free instructional webinars I have ever seen. It is not mandatory that anyone here pay anything, the majority of content is offered completely free. I did join, not because I was wanting access to something that I could not get to otherwise, but because I wanted to show my support for Mike's efforts.
I have learned more about trading, more about myself even, since I have joined than through any other venue I have explored in my trading career. Almost every week there is some new interview, or webinar, or thread discussion, that really adds to my learning and understanding of trading.
I have friends here that share the same goals, experiences and beliefs, that without a site like this I would have a hard time finding people in my own neighborhood as qualified to get into some of the discussions. Trading is a unique path, and until you have experienced certain depths of it it is hard to explain, but here, I never run out of people on the same wavelength.
I keep journals here, where I study my own trading, where I try to help other traders, where I ask for help from other traders, where we sometimes just goof around, similar to how coworkers might. futures.io (formerly BMT) has become my "office" in a way. My trading is mine alone, but while I am trading I often log in here to feel like I am part of a larger organization.
I have found many many members to go out of their way to be helpful. Guys who have more knowledge than I possibly ever will, will take time to go into great lengths at explaining something, and expect nothing in return. My guess is it is because traders know how hard and lonely it can be sometimes, and we develop a compassion for each other.
If you would, please take the time to tell in your own words how Big Mike Trading has benefitted you.
And also, consider this an open invitation to ask me for help, anytime. That is why we are here.
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I don't want to interfere with this thread, so I will just make a brief comment then leave it to those who wish to participate.
For all the "haters" out there that go out of their way to cause me trouble -- usually after being banned from the forum for being incredibly rude to others -- there are probably 100 people that email me or fill out feedback forms telling me how much they appreciate the community. And you know how it is, people that are unhappy usually make the most noise.
I know that getting rid of the trouble makers is one of the key reasons futures.io (formerly BMT) is the kind of helpful resource and community that exists today. And I know that virtually no one is "fooled" by one of those people who is yelling loudly that futures.io (formerly BMT) is no good, I trust that instead everyone can make their own decision and let futures.io (formerly BMT) speak for itself.
If it were not for all those people who have taken the time to express their words of encouragement to me over the years, I would definitely struggle to rationalize the amount of time I spend on the site. So thank you to everyone who has supported the community. As I have stated countless times, I am very proud of what the community has worked together to accomplish, and I do my best to build the framework so that all of you can continue to build a great community.
In a single line I can say that futures.io (formerly BMT) has been the number one influence in the betterment of my trading. There isn't a more professional site where peers go out of the way to help you, where the journaling process is encouraged, where angels appear as if from nowhere and guide you during your roughest patches - in short is is like a trader reaching the edge of his physical and mental prowess and then suddenly finding a realm like Big Mike exists - its like suddenly 'and standing upon the shoulders of giants' to discover the inner strength and a leap of insight to progress in this difficult discipline.
1. Where on earth can you find a place to confess the deepest innermost travails you are going through and find comforting and helpful advice instead of being laughed at?
2. Where can you get a place where the moderator and site owner refuses sponsors who want to fiddle with the quality of posts for their ulterior motives?
3. Which other forum has the owner so proactive that inappropriate material that is not conducive to the best interests of the community is taken down within seconds?
For me its all related to the community of people and the behaviour here....
Sharing of tools/indicators/ideas. This has saved me time and money and helps me refine my trading approach as I find things that do/do not gel with me
Honesty and robust discussion
A mature group of people
I am so over forums and online games with people saying things they would never say face to face....A Big Thank You for Big Mike. This forum is a mature and healthy community of people. Kicking rude people out keeps me here.
I know of no other forum on the internets that is as helpful and encouraging and mature/respectful as Big Mikes. Its given me an outlet to document my own personal journey through the trading journal where people positively and constructively stop in to offer their help. Other trading forums are full of pissing contests, mud slinging and negativity which benefits nobody. Trading is an extremely competitive business so its easy to see where ego and jealousy can boil over but we are all retail traders here and there is plenty of money to go around for everybody and I think this community gets that. There is no reason to attack other retail traders, we are all on the same side. So I thank Big Mike for the tireless effort he puts in to make this site the oasis of positivity that it is!
The quality of the site design and the administration speaks for itself, which is to say without equal. As far the quality of the content, I have read others put down the site by saying in effect that no one here knows how to trade. The reality is that trading is really hard and most people anywhere don't know how to trade. But that's the whole point, and if you look at the site stats you will see the top 10 threads are not about some magical get rich quick systems and you will also see the most popular forum is the trading journals forum. That alone speaks to quality of the content, and more importantly, the quality of the people on this site. I'm sorry, but we're pretty freakin awesome.
futures.io (formerly BMT) is the only place I have come across where the participants have kept it real. No hype no fluff.. just the facts. To me futures.io (formerly BMT) is a encyclopedia of trading which is updated in real time. There is not a trading book or website out there which comes close to containing the knowledge which is contained in these threads. The trends of the trading world are reflected in the threads and in some cases the threads are far ahead of the trend.
The irony is when I signed up for futures.io (formerly BMT) it was for the indicators. What futures.io (formerly BMT) has taught me is I do not need indicators or a secret sauce to tell me where to place my trades; I just need my mind and price action. If I were to walk away from trading and futures.io (formerly BMT) today I would leave happy. Happy in the knowledge that "I get it"and that I took the risk. Happy that I have been able to give back to the community that has supported and taught me so much. Happy in the knowledge that I dont blame anyone (or indicator or market) for my success and failures except me. <-- this one alone is worth the price of admission a hundred times over!! To put it simply futures.io (formerly BMT) has given me piece of mind when it comes to trading. And for this I am truly grateful.
i came across this thread, and was surprised to see it come and go so fast.Speaking for myself, not a day goes by that I don't appreciate being here. The generosity of some of the traders goes above and beyond, and for that i am truly thankful.
In this forum, i try to focus on the positive, and stay on point.Trading, has by far been the toughest undertaking of my life. it has exposed every weakness i have , and seemingly brought to light some i wasn't even aware of.We all have our own unique path to follow, and for me, it seems , there have been many sidetracks and derailments! Its not even a question of what or who is to blame, but a matter of pushing forward.
Lastly, no one benefits by posting hateful negative comments.I think i can speak for many here.I am thankful to Mike and many others for their continuing effort to keep this forum clean and professional and fun.
