Not surprising. From what the real news says, decent paying jobs are all but gone overseas. Corporations don't train or hire new graduates anymore and the very few that they do must be in the top of their class, and from a top university. Might as well not go to college unless one is a certifiable born genius. Plus most graduate students are foreign nationals in American graduate programs today especially in the STEM majors. Visit any graduate STEM classes of any state schools and you'll see 75% Indian national, 20% Chinese national, and 5% American citizens (any race) usually something like that.

The public high school education system has failed. What they should do is revamp it , get rid of the useless stuff that doesn't prepare for the real economy, and only teach college level in high school. If the students are not qualified then a full vocational alternate high school instead. Corporations that get bailouts should help sponsor or help program these vocational classes. Would be a better use of taxpayer dollars to teach college level or vocational only in every public high school. Instead in state colleges, you see whole freshman years wasted in remedial high school level classes. How many times one has to take high school level English etc. And "womens" and "minority" studies as required classes. Then all these nonsense private "universities" or degree mills such as Univ. of Phoenix and ITT. franchises.
