When testing strategies in Ninja, you had the option to run against your live account or in Sim.

Is this possible to achieve with MultiCharts?

You can add a strategy to any chart and then review its performance report. If you are trading it on a live account you can also view the Orders page which shows fill status, etc. But there is no option to see a "simulated" fill in a live market, although the strategy will start chart and show these fills on the chart, it doesn't use a "sim engine" in the same way Ninja does.

if you have Interactive Brokers, just log into account management and create a demo account which will give you a separate uid/pw login... the new "demo" account will have the same exact rights as your live account and same market data.. configure MC as usual with IBKR TWS, etc...

if you are using TT, I think you can also use TTSIM to do demo trading...

you might want to reach out to your IB, if using Rithmic/Zenfire, and request a demo account as well.. so you can try that route..

I am sure that if TSS is creating a DOM for MC, they will more than likely have a sim mode.. I would be curious as to what their product roadmap looks like in terms of features, but I doubt they would share that.. who knows, if enough members ask they might be willing to share the next 2 years roadmap..

BTW, the Interactive Brokers "paper trading" account is an excellent tool. Much better than any sim engine in any product, in my opinion. It allows you to "trick" your platform into thinking it is trading real trades on a live account, and leave the broker to the sim/paper fills. I found this more useful than using a built-in sim engine in Ninja.

So if you have IB, its a great tool to have this paper account. Any customer can request it for free if your account is funded.

Mike, the Rithmic connectivity with MC has 2 modes: Rithmic 01 and Rithmic Test.
I wonder whether switching back and forth between the two would not allow what this gentleman above has requested.

Will ask and investigate further

I think I have found a solution to those who want to test a strategy/Indicator/Signal on SIM while running one data feed. Essentially, you can run one data feed, but route your orders to a different broker. MC differentiates between the two, so why not route orders to a broker that you don't have an account with for sim purposes with an active feed?

Here are the steps I took:
From the quote manager I have chosen Rithmic as my data connector for a low latency solution.
Then, I ran the Rithmic feed to see if I was receiving real market data on the chart.
Inserted the strategy.
SA button on the chart on the left corner has a little pull down, pulled it down and chose Strategy Properties.
Chose the Middle Tab, Auto Trading, and then on the bottom from Selected Broker Plug I chose Interactive Brokers which I don't have an account with.

So lets say you have strategy which is automated and ready to go, route it to a broker you have an account with. While a second chart you choose a strategy you are testing and route it to "empty space", with a broker you dont have an account with.

Essentially, you can see the signals of your strategy and see your buys and sells on the charts.
This is like a synthetic sim you created.
This might throw error messages that your order was not executed/routed, so pay attention which order was not routed in the event you are running a real one as well with a broker of your choice.

I hope I answered the gentleman's question who started this thread.
