Is anyone using an Amazon (AWS) or Google or Microsoft Cloud free service to do optimization with Multicharts? If yes, what has been your experience / end result and was it worth the effort?

You wonít get any where with there free virtual machines. They donít provide enough cpu power or memory to run anything but the basics.. Iíve tried with tradestation. However, you can build a virtual mini super computer if you wanted. A 36 cpu, 128 gig windows system is like 1200 a month, but you only get charged by the hour. So, itís something like $1.50 an hour. 10 cpu system is like 250 a month, but thatís at 730 hours a month. If you only run it for 10 hours, itís like .68 cents an hour.

Iíve used systems like this to optimize huge data programs in minutes that my office computer would take days to run.

For my tradestation experience, there was a limit. I could have run a 50 cpu system and it didnít optimize any faster than a 5 cpu system. Tradestation lacked the ability to utilize the extra power.

I donít know about multicharts, call their support team and ask if adding memeory or cpus will help before setting up a azure system to test

Also, after you done, delete your virtual environment. Cpu and memeory are cheap, but Amazon and Microsoft will charge 30 dollars or more a month for storage. This adds up when you are not running it.

Hope that helps.
